As an Associate Legal Editor working remotely in the Legal Research & Editorial department, your primary responsibility will be managing editorial content by reviewing headnotes and overseeing statutes. Your role demands a meticulous approach to ensure all content is legally accurate, concise, and ready for publication. Your key duties will include reviewing and editing headnotes, case summaries, and keywords for reported judgments, ensuring timely updates of statutes, maintaining accuracy and clarity in summarizing legal issues, and collaborating with the content team to uphold editorial standards. Additionally, you will be verifying citations, court references, legal propositions, conducting editorial quality control, tracking significant judgments, and contributing to the development of editorial policies. To qualify for this position, you must hold an LLB or LLM from a reputable university and possess at least 3-5 years of experience in legal editing, law publishing, or legal research. A strong grasp of legal terminology, case law structure, statutory interpretation, Indian court hierarchy, and procedures is essential. Previous experience with legal databases or legal journals is advantageous. The successful candidate will excel in legal writing and summarization, exhibit a keen eye for detail to identify editorial/legal inconsistencies, distill complex judgments into accurate summaries, have a proficient command of English and legal citation formats, and be comfortable working with legal databases and editorial tools.
