Description
As a Lab Network Engineer at UST, you will play a crucial role in designing, building, maintaining, and troubleshooting network infrastructure within a lab environment. Your responsibilities will encompass ensuring optimal performance and connectivity for testing and development purposes, often involving complex configurations and close collaboration with engineering teams to support product testing and validation across various network scenarios. Your main duties will include: Network Design and Implementation: - Architecting and deploying lab networks with specific configurations to meet testing requirements. - Selecting and installing appropriate network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls) for lab environments. - Configuring network protocols (IP addressing, routing protocols, VLANs) to facilitate testing and isolation. Troubleshooting and Maintenance: - Identifying and resolving network issues within the lab environment. - Monitoring network performance and proactively addressing potential bottlenecks. - Performing network upgrades and patching to maintain compatibility and security. Collaboration with Engineering Teams: - Working closely with development teams to understand testing needs and translate them into network configurations. - Providing technical support and expertise on network issues encountered during testing. - Contributing to the design and development of new test methodologies related to network functionality. Security and Compliance: - Implementing security measures on lab networks to protect sensitive data. - Ensuring compliance with relevant security standards and regulations. Documentation and Reporting: - Maintaining detailed documentation of lab network configurations and troubleshooting procedures. - Generating reports on network performance and identifying areas for improvement. Required Skills: - Deep understanding of network protocols, including extensive knowledge of DC switching with Arista, PaloAlto, Console Servers/KVMs/PDUs, Cabling, and Ansible. - Familiarity with SonicOS and Azure Network is preferable. - Hands-on experience with configuring and troubleshooting routers, switches from various vendors. - Automation and scripting skills, with familiarity in network automation tools to streamline configuration management and repetitive tasks in Python. - Strong problem-solving abilities to diagnose complex network issues and identify root causes. - Collaboration skills, with effective communication and teamwork to work with cross-functional engineering teams. Qualifications: - 10+ years of experience in a relevant field. - Experience in Troubleshooting and Maintenance. - Engineering degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, EE, or equivalent experience.
