The Network Technician role at our college involves managing and maintaining the network infrastructure and CCTV systems to ensure seamless connectivity and campus safety. You will be responsible for installing, troubleshooting, and optimizing network and surveillance equipment while working closely with the IT and campus security teams. Your key responsibilities will include installing, configuring, and maintaining network hardware such as routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, as well as CCTV systems including IP cameras, NVRs, and video management software. Monitoring network and CCTV system performance, troubleshooting connectivity issues, and performing routine maintenance tasks like updating network firmware and patching systems will be part of your daily tasks. You will also ensure the secure integration of CCTV systems with the network infrastructure, configure secure access, and implement data encryption protocols. Collaboration with IT and security teams to implement network upgrades and integrate CCTV systems with other security technologies will be essential. Documenting network and CCTV configurations, changes, and troubleshooting procedures will also be a key part of your role. Providing technical support to end-users for network and CCTV-related issues, testing and optimizing network and CCTV systems for performance and reliability, and staying updated on networking and CCTV technologies will be crucial aspects of this role. This is a full-time position with occasional on-call or after-hours availability required for urgent network or CCTV issues. Your work will primarily take place on campus, with tasks spanning across offices, classrooms, data centers, and outdoor areas for CCTV installations. Collaborate with the sales team to understand customer needs and design tailored video surveillance solutions (CCTV, NVRs, VMS, IP cameras, etc.).Liaise with product and engineering teams to relay customer feedback and influence product enhancements. Engage with customers to provide pre-sale technical consultations and site surveys when required. Preferred candidate profile 4 to 6 years of experience in a presales or technical support role in the video surveillance industry. Understanding of CCTV, IP cameras, video management systems (VMS), NVRs/DVRs, networking basics, and storage technologies. Strong communication. Ability to design end-to-end surveillance systems tailored to specific customer environments. Proficiency in CAD, Visio, or similar design tools for layout and system design is an advantage. Experience with brands like Hikvision, Dahua, Axis, CP Plus, or similar is preferred.
