This role offers an opportunity to contribute to the diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management of patients with complex blood disorders, including malignancies and non-malignant hematologic conditions. The ideal candidate should possess strong diagnostic skills, a commitment to clinical excellence, and a collaborative spirit to work alongside other medical specialists. Key Responsibilities Clinical Diagnosis & Evaluation Assess patients presenting with symptoms of hematologic disorders such as anemia, coagulopathies, hemoglobinopathies, or hematologic malignancies. Order and interpret diagnostic investigations including CBC, bone marrow aspiration and biopsy, peripheral smear, immunophenotyping, cytogenetics, and coagulation profiles. Treatment Planning & Management Design and administer treatment plans tailored to patient-specific conditions, including chemotherapy, transfusions, immunotherapy, anticoagulation, or targeted therapies. Monitor treatment progress and adjust protocols based on clinical response and diagnostic findings. Interdisciplinary Coordination Collaborate with oncologists, pathologists, transfusion medicine specialists, radiologists, and primary care physicians to ensure comprehensive and integrated care for hematology patients. Participate in tumor boards and multidisciplinary team discussions for complex case planning. Patient Education & Counseling Provide clear, empathetic communication to patients and families regarding diagnosis, prognosis, treatment options, and long-term care strategies. Guide patients through decision-making with a focus on quality of life and informed consent. Academic & Research Engagement Stay current with advancements in hematology by participating in CME, workshops, and clinical seminars. Contribute to clinical research, case studies, or ongoing trials in hematology, where applicable. Quality, Safety & Compliance Maintain accurate and timely medical records in accordance with hospital protocols and legal regulations. Ensure adherence to infection control, treatment safety, and ethical practice standards. Candidate Profile Education & Certification DM or DNB in Hematology from an MCI-recognized institution (mandatory). Valid medical registration/license to practice in [Insert applicable jurisdiction]. Experience 2 to 10 years of post-specialization clinical experience in hematology. Prior experience managing both malignant (e.g., leukemias, lymphomas) and non-malignant blood disorders (e.g., hemophilia, thalassemia) preferred. Core Competencies Clinical excellence in diagnostics and patient management across the spectrum of hematologic diseases. Proficient in procedures such as bone marrow biopsy, central line access management, and transfusion protocols. Ability to manage emergencies such as febrile neutropenia or bleeding complications. Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to simplify complex medical information. Team-oriented approach with the ability to collaborate in high-pressure clinical environments. Preferred Attributes Experience working in tertiary care or academic medical institutions. Involvement in published research or hematology conferences. Exposure to hematopoietic stem cell transplant programs is a plus.
