As a Production Engineering Technical Lead at Cisco, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the development, optimization, and maintenance of our production systems. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the reliability, scalability, and performance of our systems, collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive technical excellence. You will be required to design, implement, and maintain scalable, highly available, and fault-tolerant systems in cloud environments. Your expertise will be essential in optimizing the performance, cost, and efficiency of cloud infrastructure by leveraging cloud-native tools and services. Moreover, you will supervise infrastructure and applications to guarantee optimal performance, availability, and security. Troubleshooting production issues, including root cause analysis and resolution, will be a key aspect of your role. Implementing automated monitoring and alerting systems to identify performance bottlenecks and downtime before they impact users will also be part of your responsibilities. Collaborating with DevX application teams to automate and streamline the deployment of applications and updates to production environments using CI/CD pipelines is essential. Furthermore, ensuring smooth and efficient release management, managing environment configurations, and minimizing downtime during production releases will be crucial tasks. You will also be responsible for maintaining version control, managing rollback strategies for production releases, and participating in on-call rotations to provide 24/7 production support for critical incidents in the cloud platform. Your role will involve leading incident management processes, including troubleshooting, escalation, and resolution of production issues. Documenting incidents and solutions for future reference and continuous improvement will also be part of your responsibilities. To qualify for this position, you must have a BS/MS in Computer Science and a minimum of 12+ years of experience, including experience in production engineering, site reliability, or a similar role. Proficiency in Container platforms such as Google Anthos, networking, containers (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), microservices architectures, and distributed systems is required. Additionally, you should be proficient in CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, ArgoCD) and version control systems (e.g., Github). Strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication, and leadership abilities are essential for this role. You should have a track record of driving technical initiatives and be familiar with CI/CD pipelines, observability (monitoring, logging, tracing), and incident management frameworks.
