Job Description

Role & responsibilities

Overall Business Operations

  • Oversee day-to-day operations across departments (production, quality, supply chain, general administration, maintenance).
  • Ensure smooth coordination between various functional heads to meet business objectives.
  • Implement systems to improve operational efficiency and reduce bottlenecks.

Strategic Planning & Execution

  • Translate company vision into actionable business plans.
  • Set department-level goals aligned with company targets and monitor execution.
  • Contribute to strategic decisions including new product lines, expansion, and capital investments.

Production & Plant Oversight

  • Ensure production targets are met with required quality standards.
  • Coordinate with production and maintenance teams to reduce downtime and optimize productivity.
  • Monitor factory operations, manpower utilization, and statutory compliance.

Cost Management

  • Controlling operational costs.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and evaluate department heads and key managers.
  • Conduct performance reviews and succession planning.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement.

Customer & Partner Relations

  • Maintain relationships with key customers, suppliers, and vendors.
  • Resolve escalated issues and ensure high satisfaction levels across the chain.

Compliance, Safety & Risk Management

  • Ensure adherence to all legal, regulatory, and safety requirements in plant and office operations.
  • Identify risks (operational, financial, people-related) and implement mitigation strategies.

8. Digital Transformation & Technology Adoption

  • Identify and implement new technologies (ERP systems, automation, IoT, data analytics) to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Promote digitization of key processes such as inventory tracking, production planning, and customer relationship management.

  • Drive sustainability initiatives such as waste reduction, energy efficiency, and water conservation

  • Promote a culture of innovation and kaizen (continuous improvement) across departments.

  • Develop contingency plans for operational disruptions (supply chain delays, labour strikes, natural disasters, etc.).
  • Lead crisis response initiatives with clarity and decisiveness.
  • Ensure business continuity systems are in place, including data backups and alternative sourcing

  • Strengthen quality systems to ensure zero-defect delivery and high customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor customer feedback and complaints and initiate root cause analysis.
  • Champion quality certifications like ISO 9001, FSSC 22000, etc., as relevant.

Preventive & Predictive Maintenance Implementation

  • Ensure that a robust

    Preventive Maintenance Schedule (PMS)

    is established and followed.
  • Support adoption of

    Predictive Maintenance (PdM)

    technologies like vibration analysis, thermal imaging, etc.
  • Monitor the frequency of unplanned breakdowns and drive continuous improvements.

Downtime Reduction & Productivity

  • Review maintenance-related production losses regularly with the Plant/Maintenance Head.
  • Push for root cause analysis (RCA) of frequent breakdowns and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Encourage cross-functional collaboration between maintenance, production, and quality teams to minimize stoppages.

Spare Parts & Inventory Control

  • Oversee systems to manage critical spares inventoryoptimize availability without overstocking.
  • Approve procurement policies for spare parts, tools, and consumables.
  • Ensure partnerships with reliable vendors for spare parts and service.

Logistics & Inventory Management

  • Oversee logistics operations

    : Outbound (finished goods), including warehousing, 3PL coordination, transport compliance.
  • Optimize inventory

    : maintain ideal inventory levels, reduce carrying costs, support just-in-time (JIT) production, minimize obsolescence.

Preferred candidate profile

Candidates having experience in Indian snacks manufacturing industry (Namkeen and Papad) will be preferred.
