Front End Engineering

As the Chapter Lead - Chapter Lead, Front End Engineering - React, WRB Tech at Standard Chartered, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the execution of functional standards and best practices related to front-end development. Your responsibilities will include providing technical assistance to the members of your Chapter, ensuring the quality of the code repository, and acting as a conduit for the wider domain strategy. In close partnership with the Chief Product Owner, Hive Tech Lead, and Hive Leadership, you will be responsible for balancing skills and capabilities across teams (squads) and hives. Your role will involve evolving the craft towards improving automation, simplification, and innovative use of the latest market trends, contributing to the squad delivery for your craft, and prioritizing technical debt. You will be accountable for people management and capability development of your Chapter members, focusing on the development of people and capabilities as the highest priority. Additionally, you will review metrics on capabilities and performance across your area, drive continual improvement of your chapter, and ensure effective capacity risk management across the Chapter with regards to attrition and leave plans. Your role will also involve adopting and embedding the Change Delivery Standards throughout the lifecycle of the product/service, ensuring role, job descriptions, and expectations are clearly set for the entire team, and following the chapter operating model to build capability and performance effectively. To be successful in this role, you should have a solid background in JavaScript ES6 (and TypeScript), ReactJS, HTML5/CSS/DOM, responsive design principles, network fundamentals, security fundamentals, and CI/CD. With over 10 years of experience, including experience in a global diverse organization, and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, you should possess proven experience as a front-end developer or web developer with a strong portfolio showcasing past projects.
