Firewall Engineer

Job Purpose As a Firewall Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to contribute to our IT security team by focusing on firewall management, VPN configuration, and network security. Your role will involve designing secure network architectures, implementing firewall policies, and ensuring robust security postures for enterprise environments. Roles & Responsibilities You will be tasked with the following responsibilities: - Deploying, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting Palo Alto and FortiGate firewalls for effective firewall management. - Defining, enforcing, and optimizing firewall rules and security policies based on best practices for security policy implementation. - Monitoring and responding to firewall security alerts, ensuring protection against cyber threats, and configuring FortiSIEM for threat prevention and SIEM. - Assisting in designing and implementing secure network infrastructures within network security architecture. - Performing firmware upgrades, patching, and version updates for firewalls to ensure upgrades and patch management. - Configuring and managing Site-to-Site VPNs, SSL VPNs, and IPSec tunnels for VPN & remote access. - Collaborating with security tools, SIEM solutions, and automation frameworks to enhance security monitoring through integration & automation. - Investigating and resolving firewall-related security incidents and connectivity issues as part of incident response. - Maintaining accurate network security documentation, including firewall rules, change logs, and compliance reports, for documentation & reporting. - Ensuring that firewall configurations comply with security policies, industry standards (ISO 27001, NIST, PCI-DSS), and audit requirements for compliance & audits. Relevant Experience To qualify for this role, you should have: - 4 to 7 years of hands-on experience in firewall administration, with a strong focus on Palo Alto Networks and Fortinet FortiGate. - A deep understanding of firewall rule sets, NAT, security zones, and UTM features. - Proficiency in configuring Palo Alto Panorama and Forti Manager for centralized firewall management. - Strong knowledge of threat intelligence, IDS/IPS, and security best practices. - Experience in SSL decryption, application control, and web filtering. - Familiarity with cloud security configurations (AWS, Azure, or GCP firewalling). - A strong grasp of TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), and SD-WAN solutions. - Hands-on experience with network troubleshooting tools (Wireshark, TCPDump). Certifications Preferred certifications for this position include: - Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE) - Fortinet NSE 4/5/6/7 (Network Security Expert) - CCNP Security, or other relevant certifications are a plus,
