Role & responsibilities To manage and control the entire inventory and stores operations at the smelting plant, ensuring availability of materials, timely issuance, proper storage, and maintaining accurate stock levels to support uninterrupted plant operations. Key Responsibilities: Inventory Management: Maintain proper records of receipts, issues, and balances of all inventory items. Ensure inventory accuracy through regular stock audits and cycle counting. Coordinate with procurement and production departments for timely material availability. Material Handling and Storage: Ensure proper storage of materials with adequate labeling and stacking to avoid damages and ensure easy retrieval. Implement 5S and safety practices in the stores area. Documentation & Compliance: Maintain GRN (Goods Receipt Notes), issue slips, stock registers, and other documentation as per company policy. Ensure compliance with statutory norms and internal audit requirements. Team Supervision: Supervise a team of storekeepers and helpers. Assign duties, monitor performance, and ensure efficient operations. Coordination & Reporting: Liaise with purchase, maintenance, production, and finance departments for smooth functioning. Prepare and submit periodic stock reports, consumption analysis, and inventory valuation. ERP & Systems: Operate and update ERP systems (SAP) for all inventory transactions. Generate and analyze stock movement and ageing reports. Scrap and Non-Moving Items Handling: Maintain records and facilitate disposal of scrap and obsolete items as per procedures. Preferred candidate profile Qualifications & Experience: Graduate in Commerce/Science/Engineering or Diploma in Materials Management. 510 years of experience in store/inventory management, preferably in heavy industry/smelting/metallurgical plants. Proficiency in ERP systems and MS Office. Good knowledge of raw materials, consumables, and spares used in smelting operations. Skills Required: Strong organizational and planning skills. Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities. Effective communication and team leadership. Sound knowledge of inventory and warehouse best practices.
