Position Title: UNIX Systems Administrator I Location: Gurugram, India Working hours: 24x7 on a rotation basis Summary Description: (L2) Join the UNIX Support team at NCR VOYIX and play a crucial role in maintaining the company's infrastructure. Collaborate with various teams to create and sustain a robust hardware and software solution for the NCR VOYIX UNIX environment. Support architectural development and deployment of new installations and solutions in an expanding UNIX environment within a continuous improvement organization. Provide second/third level technical consultancy for day-to-day operations and off-hours support on a rotational basis. The role demands exceptional teaming and communication skills to work within a global organization and with individuals of varying technical experience levels. You will offer support and mentoring to level 1 and 2 teams while engaging with people from diverse global locations and cultures. A keen aptitude for all technologies is essential, along with the ability to understand and operate within NCR's overall infrastructure architecture. Summary Description: (L3) As a member of the UNIX Support team, you will collaborate closely with various Architects to maintain a robust hardware and software solution for the NCR VOYIX UNIX environment. Support architectural development and deployment of new installations and solutions in an expanding UNIX environment within a continuous improvement organization. Provide second/third level technical consultancy for day-to-day operations and off-hours support on a rotational basis, emphasizing the importance of team collaboration and communication across global teams. Key Areas of Responsibility: - Develop and implement UNIX releases and solutions within the NCR VOYIX environment. - Maintain the UNIX environment to meet defined availability targets. - Diagnose technical and operational software problems on installed systems within defined SLAs. - Plan and execute installations of new server hardware and peripherals. - Test new UNIX releases and software products, coordinating upgrade projects. - Monitor system performance and provide technical information to varied audiences. - Contribute to procedural documentation and provide technical input regularly. Basic Requirements: - Strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate results effectively. - Creativity, innovation, and problem-solving abilities. - Project management skills with the capacity to enhance work effectiveness. - Quick learning ability and adaptability to new technologies. - Effective oral and written communication skills. - Independent work capability with a focus on meeting objectives. - Proficiency in Unix scripting and writing ansible playbooks. Preferred Skills: - Experience supporting UNIX environments including Linux, Solaris, Suse, Redhat. - Server hardware installation and troubleshooting skills. - Configuring complex server architectures on virtualized platforms such as OVM, Solaris, and VMware. - Supporting UNIX Architects in architecture design and solution deployment. - Familiarity with VMWare, Oracle Engineered servers, and Cloud environments. Education Requirements: - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems, or related field. - Equivalent job experience may substitute for formal education requirements. Skill: Oracle DBA, Golden gate with minimum 8+ years of experience Minimum 10 Years experience as a Oracle database engineer/DBA Very thorough and clear understanding of Oracle Database Architecture including the latest version of Oracle. Work with Oracle Support on SEV1/SEV2 incidents and Service requests Oracle SR including escalation to Duty Manger for any issues. Extensive knowledge and solid troubleshooting experience in the following areas RAC, ASM, Exadata, Performance tuning, Data Guard (Physical and Logical), DG Broker Experience in handling complex database recovery scenarios Experience in troubleshooting various installation and patching issues Experience in Oracle engineered systems like Exadata, Exalogic, ZDLRA, Experience in Golden Gate Experience in RMAN & Cohesity backup tools. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work under pressure quick thinking and remaining calm during stressful situations. Willingness to work in shifts and on weekends. Ability to quickly grasp complex technical issues. Appetite to learn new technologies and constantly improve technical skills. Perform day to day Oracle administration tasks and perform troubleshooting on the databases Database administration tasks include ensuring database availability, monitoring, maintenance, and operations Flexible for Prod Operations 24*7 Support- Multiple DB Technologies Fixing Issues and finding RCA Should be good in documenting the issues. Working Knowledge in AWS/Cloud environments. Designing, developing and maintaining applications and databases by evaluating client needs, analyzing requirements and developing software systems.
