Etching Operator

Role & responsibilities

• Prepare and Clean Parts for Etching: Follow process documents and instructions to properly clean and prepare parts for swab or immersion etching.
• Perform Etching Operations: Ensure consistency and precision in achieving the desired etch depth and uniformity across all parts.
• Conduct Inspections Using Calibrated Instruments: Inspect etched parts using calibrated tools to verify the etch depth, uniformity, and overall finish. Compare measurements with specifications and ensure all parts meet the required quality standards.
• Maintain and Monitor Chemical Bath Parameters: Continuously monitor chemical bath conditions to ensure they remain within specified limits. Take corrective actions if necessary to ensure optimal etching conditions.
• Make Up and Replenish Chemical Baths: Prepare and replenish chemical baths as per process requirements. Ensure that the chemical composition remains stable and within control limits for consistent performance.
• Report Deviations, Defects, or Non-Conforming Parts: Immediately report any deviations, defects, or non-conforming parts to the quality control or management team. Provide clear and precise information to help identify root causes and corrective actions.
• Stop Processing When Unsafe or Non-Compliant Conditions Are Detected: Cease etching operations if unsafe conditions are detected or if the parts do not conform to the required specifications. Prioritize safety and quality in all situations.
• Log Process Parameters and Inspection Data: Accurately log all relevant process parameters, including chemical bath compositions, time, temperature, and inspection results. Maintain detailed and organized records for traceability and quality assurance purposes.
• Ensure Proper Disposal of Chemical Waste: Follow safety protocols for the disposal of chemical waste, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) guidelines. Handle all chemicals safely to prevent environmental impact.
• Participate in Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Actions: In case of process failures or non-conforming products, actively participate in root cause analysis. Collaborate with the team to determine corrective actions and implement improvements to prevent recurrence of similar issues.

Skills / Qualifications

• Diploma /ITI with minimum 4 years' experience with Aerospace Etching processes in an MRO / Manufacturing environment
• Proficiency in handling and maintaining chemical processing equipment
• Knowledge of process chemistry and chemical composition control
• Basic understanding of aerospace materials and components
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
• Strong focus on safety and process compliance
• Skilled in using inspection tools (micrometers, magnifiers, microscopes)
• Good communication and Computer literacy for documentation and reporting
