Key Responsibilities: Provide direct, in-class assistance to the assigned child to support academic, behavioural, social, and emotional development. Implement strategies recommended in the childs Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or behaviour support plan. Assist with transitions, mobility, communication, and classroom activities as needed. Work collaboratively with classroom teachers, special educators, therapists, and school counsellors to tailor support strategies. Participate in IEP meetings and progress discussions when required. Modify classroom activities and instructions to meet the childs specific needs while fostering inclusion. Encourage the child’s independence, participation, and confidence in social and academic settings. Observe and document the child’s progress, behaviour, and challenges. Provide regular feedback to teachers, special educators, and parents/guardians. Apply appropriate behaviour management techniques in accordance with the school’s policies and the child’s behaviour plan. Support the child during emotional or behavioural difficulties with empathy and consistency. Maintain confidentiality of student records and respect the dignity and privacy of the child and family. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Psychology, Education, or a related field (preferred). Experience working with children with special needs, especially in an educational setting. Knowledge of common learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, or other developmental challenges. Familiarity with IEPs and inclusive education practices is an advantage. Skills & Attributes: High level of patience, empathy, and emotional intelligence. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to follow instructions while being proactive and adaptable.
