As a Principal Product Development Engineer at TE Connectivity, you will be responsible for focusing on the electrical design, simulation, and verification-validation testing of high-speed products in cable assemblies aimed at high-speed communications and connectivity within data centers and wireless infrastructure. Your role will involve working independently on projects related to hardware design and validation for products, system design encompassing modeling, simulation, testing, and circuit board layout. Collaboration within a diverse cross-functional team including mechanical, manufacturing, and operations will be essential for executing cutting-edge product designs. You will serve as the subject matter expert for the electrical performance of a product/platform, starting from initial analysis through prototype fabrication and evaluation to production verification testing, while also addressing challenging design problems using simulation tools to guide complex designs towards success. Your key responsibilities will include: - Demonstrating expertise in high-speed data, electronics design, simulation, and validation activities throughout product development cycles - Defining electrical design performance and functional requirements for new products - Leading the product development of high-speed cables assemblies from concept to manufacturing - Conducting component selection, schematic design, PCB layout, and product validation testing while verifying SI test results - Providing actionable recommendations based on design reviews and simulation results - Making data-driven decisions regarding product functionality and areas for enhancement To qualify for this role, you should have the following skills and experience: - Bachelor's degree in electrical or electronics engineering, with a preference for a master's degree - Minimum of 10 years of work experience in a high-speed hardware engineering role - Proficiency in electronic design and analysis tools such as Altium PCB, ADS, Ansys Designer, and Ansys HFSS - Expertise in cable/cable assembly designs, high-speed test equipment, power integrity, PDM analysis, signal conditioning techniques, component selection, schematic capture, PCB design, fabrication, assembly, electromagnetic theory, and electrical circuit behavior - Strong analytical capabilities to interpret simulation and lab data, identify issues, and provide solutions - Experience in project leadership across design, development, and manufacturing teams - Excellent verbal and written communication skills - Ability to work in a global environment, collaborate across geographies, and accommodate varying time zones - Highly motivated, quick learner, and able to work independently Additionally, familiarity with SFF/IEEE specifications for high-speed cable assemblies, PAM4/8 and other higher-order modulation techniques, and Six Sigma methodologies or strong data analytics background would be advantageous.
