Position: Senior Software Engineer Location: Walmart Global Tech (Hybrid Work Model) Position Summary Demonstrates up-to-date expertise and applies it to the development, execution, and continuous improvement of action plans. Provides expert advice and guidance to peers by sharing best practices, supporting cross-functional alignment, and building commitment through strong rationales. Supports the implementation of business solutions by identifying needs, building relationships with stakeholders, driving execution, and monitoring results. Models compliance with company values, ethics, and integrity policies through daily actions and decision-making. About the Team The Marketplace Engineering team is responsible for developing core platforms and services that empower third-party sellers to succeed on Walmart.com. By managing the full seller lifecycle and enabling tools to plan pricing, inventory, and assortment, the team helps deliver competitive pricing and world-class customer experiences. The team also works closely with partner platform teams to maintain an optimal experience for both sellers and customers. What You'll Do Develop scalable and efficient software solutions, including ML-based applications, to support Walmart Marketplace at scale. Design and build high-performance backend services using Java and distributed systems principles. Collaborate with engineering peers to define best practices and technical requirements. Troubleshoot production issues quickly and efficiently to minimize impact. Regularly update and maintain software systems to meet evolving business needs. Ensure data security through best practices and preventative measures. Perform code reviews, testing, and performance tuning before formal launches. Continuously look for ways to enhance system efficiency, automation, and scalability. Support Walmart's core mission, ethics, and integrity through professional conduct. What You'll Bring B.E./B.Tech/MS/MCA in Computer Science or related technical field. 5+ years of professional experience in Java and object-oriented programming. Strong understanding of computer systems, algorithms, and data structures. Experience building web-based J2EE applications and working with: Kafka, Apache Camel, RESTful APIs, Spring, Hibernate, Splunk, caching tools. Exposure to distributed systems, fault tolerance, and high-availability systems. Familiarity with SQL/NoSQL databases like Cassandra, Elasticsearch, MongoDB. Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and containerization tools (Docker, Jenkins, Kubernetes). Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, GCP, or OpenStack. Effective communication and interpersonal collaboration skills. A passion for continuous improvement and technical excellence. Minimum Qualifications Option 1 : Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related field, and 3 years of experience in software engineering at a technology, retail, or data-driven company. Option 2 : 5 years of experience in software engineering or a related area at a technology, retail, or data-driven company. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field. 1+ year leading information security or cybersecurity projects.
