Job Summary:

Due Diligence (DD) Underwriter Trainer

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and deliver training sessions on reviewing, analyzing, and validating data from

  Form 1003 (Loan Application)

  and

  Form 1004 (Appraisal Report)

  .
• Educate underwriters on identifying red flags in borrower income, assets, credit, and liabilities.
  
• Train underwriters in evaluating property value, condition, and market trends as reported in Form 1004.
  
• Develop case studies and real-world exercises involving income verification, debt-to-income (DTI) calculations, and appraisal analysis.
  
• Ensure trainees understand how to verify borrower and collateral information to mitigate lending risks.
  
• Conduct quality reviews and performance assessments, providing constructive feedback and guidance.
  
• Collaborate with compliance and risk management teams to ensure adherence to underwriting and investor guidelines (e.g., Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac).
  
• Update training materials to reflect changes in underwriting policies and industry regulations.
  

Skills & Knowledge (Form 1003 & 1004 Focus):

• Form 1003 Skills:

• Borrower data review and cross-verification (employment, income, assets, liabilities)
  
• Credit report interpretation and risk scoring
  
• DTI and LTV ratio calculation and analysis
  
• Occupancy status, loan purpose, and property type evaluation
  
• Identification of red flags and inconsistent borrower information
  

• Form 1004 Skills:

• Appraisal report review and compliance checks
  
• Property condition assessment and comparables (comps) analysis
  
• Market trend interpretation and neighborhood analysis
  
• Reconciliation of value conclusions with loan parameters
  
• Identifying appraisal discrepancies or red flags
  

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Finance, Real Estate, Business, or related field (preferred)
  
• Minimum of 5 years of underwriting experience, including mortgage due diligence
  
• Strong knowledge of

  Form 1003

  and

  Form 1004

  review and analysis
• Experience in training or mentoring underwriting professionals
  
• Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills
  
• Ability to lead training sessions during flexible night shifts
