As a Field Service Mechanic at Bigge, you will play a crucial role in repairing and maintaining rough terrain, crawler, mobile crane equipment, and various types of forklifts. Your primary responsibility will be focused on servicing and repairing this equipment to ensure its optimal functionality. You must have a strong background in electrical systems, drive trains, engines, hydraulics, and computer-controlled systems to excel in this role. With at least 3 - 5 years of experience in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining mobile crane equipment, you will be expected to be on-call during nights and weekends for crane repairs at customers" job sites. Flexibility is key as you must be willing to travel on short notice and be away from home for extended periods, sometimes overnight or for several days. Effective communication with customers, supervisors, and colleagues is essential in delivering high-quality service. While knowledge and experience in assembling and disassembling various crawler cranes are beneficial, they are not mandatory requirements. Being able to read schematics, both hydraulic and electrical, is crucial for this role. Additionally, you should be physically capable of lifting up to 40 lbs. To qualify for this position, you must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in repairing and maintaining rough terrain, crawler, and mobile crane construction equipment. Vocational training may be considered in place of experience. You should be able to perform tasks independently, demonstrate computer literacy, and exhibit a strong work ethic with a commitment to quality. Familiarity with troubleshooting equipment lines such as Manitowoc, Grove, Terex, Tadano, Broderson, Kobelco, and Liebherr cranes is advantageous. Furthermore, you are expected to adhere to safe work practices, possess a positive attitude, and maintain a clean driving record to operate a company service truck. Providing your own hand tools and keeping an up-to-date tool inventory in service trucks is necessary. A high school diploma is required, and additional vocational training is a plus.
