MSCI Services is building cutting-edge software and data workflows to identify and analyze the exposure to climate change of publicly traded companies. This data informs investors about companies climate risk within our climate risk and ESG models. We are seeking a Senior Associate - Physical Risk Engineering with a strong interest in cross-functional work with domain experts to create production-ready climate data using Python. In this role, you'll focus on the physical risk components of our climate risk model, requiring a good understanding of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), processing large geospatial datasets, and the common physical risk modeling framework (hazard x exposure x vulnerability). This work directly contributes to the models and data used by the largest financial players globally. Responsibilities: Collaborate with researchers in developing production-grade models. Design and implement the engineering aspects of physical risk models (hazard, exposure, vulnerability) for a performant and sustainable engineering solution. Co-design and implement geospatial data workflows for physical risk models based on a common spatial platform. Participate in the review of requirements, design, and code. Mentor other developers , providing them with technical guidance in GIS. Qualifications: Proficient in software engineering , including Python . Strong familiarity working with UNIX command lines and its toolset . Experience with or strong interest in Google Cloud Platform and/or Azure and container-based development . Enjoys interacting in a cross-cultural and geographically distributed environment. Ability to transform client business requirements into technical solutions . Strong analytic skills, problem-solving ability, and attention to detail . Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a multi-cultural and geographically distributed team. We are seeking an experienced Modern Microservice Developer to join our team and contribute to the design, development, and optimization of scalable microservices and data processing workflows. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Python, containerization, and orchestration tools, along with strong skills in SQL and data integration. Key Responsibilities: Develop and optimize data processing workflows and large-scale data transformations using Python. Write and maintain complex SQL queries in Snowflake to support efficient data extraction, manipulation, and aggregation. Integrate diverse data sources and perform validation testing to ensure data accuracy and integrity. Design and deploy containerized applications using Docker, ensuring scalability and reliability. Build and maintain RESTful APIs to support microservices architecture. Implement CI/CD pipelines and manage orchestration tools such as Kubernetes or ECS for automated deployments. Monitor and log application performance, ensuring high availability and quick issue resolution. Requirements Mandatory: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. 5-8 years of experience in Python development, with a focus on data processing and automation. Proficiency in SQL, with hands-on experience in Snowflake. Strong experience with Docker and containerized application development. Solid understanding of RESTful APIs and microservices architecture. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and orchestration tools like Kubernetes or ECS. Knowledge of logging and monitoring tools to ensure system health and performance. Preferred Skills: Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) is a plus.
