As a Senior Software Engineer for the R&D Engineering function at the Medtronic Engineering and Innovation Center R&D facility, you will be involved in all phases and aspects of the software development process. Operating in a fast-paced, multi-tasking team environment, you will frequently collaborate with Tech Leads, other developers, V&V engineers, internal partners, and stakeholders on estimations, design, implementation, and requirement clarifications, working closely with global sites. Your responsibilities will include designing, developing, and testing high-integrity software for medical devices, adhering to software standards such as IEC62304. You will define and implement software requirements and designs, review software developed by team members, and apply advanced technical principles to solve complex problems. Additionally, you will participate in process improvement initiatives, demonstrate ownership of software features, provide leadership and mentorship to junior engineers, encourage innovation, and work collaboratively with internal and external partners. To be successful in this role, you must have 8-12 years of relevant software development experience, including expertise in creating and consuming RESTful web services, Agile methodology, test-driven development, and design patterns. Proficiency in technologies such as C# .Net, Xamarin Forms, HTML5, JavaScript, and experience in mobile software development and web-based technologies are essential. A Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Technology in relevant fields is required, along with strong knowledge of software design, development, debug, and test practices. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will frequently interact with Product Owners, Tech Leads, developers, V&V engineers, internal partners, and stakeholders. Experience in software design for medical devices, writing engineering documents, configuration management tools, Agile methodologies, and test-driven development are desirable skills for this position.
