Role & responsibilities

Patient Assessment and Monitoring:
Oncology nurses assess patients' physical and emotional well-being, monitor vital signs, and track changes in their condition throughout treatment.
Treatment Administration:
They administer chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and other cancer treatments as prescribed by the oncologist.
Symptom Management:
Oncology nurses help manage side effects of cancer treatment, such as nausea, pain, and fatigue, ensuring patient comfort.
Patient and Family Education:
They educate patients and their families about the cancer diagnosis, treatment options, potential side effects, and lifestyle adjustments.
Emotional Support:
Oncology nurses provide emotional support and counseling to patients and their families, helping them cope with the challenges of a cancer diagnosis.
Care Coordination:
They collaborate with oncologists, surgeons, radiation therapists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement comprehensive care plans.
Documentation:
Oncology nurses maintain accurate and detailed patient records and documentation.
Advocacy:
They advocate for patient needs and preferences within the healthcare team and system.
Research Participation:
