Primary Responsibilities Patient Evaluation & Treatment Planning Assess and diagnose cancer patients using clinical examinations, imaging, and pathology. Develop and execute tailored radiation therapy plans using IMRT, IGRT, SBRT, SRS, and Brachytherapy as applicable. Collaborate with radiation physicists and dosimetrists to ensure safe and accurate dose calculations and treatment planning. Treatment Delivery & Monitoring Supervise and operate linear accelerators (LINAC), CT simulators, and brachytherapy equipment. Monitor patients throughout treatment for side effects, complications, and therapeutic response. Modify treatment plans based on clinical response and imaging follow-ups to ensure optimal outcomes. Interdisciplinary Collaboration Participate in tumor board discussions to develop integrated, evidence-based treatment strategies with surgical, medical, and diagnostic oncology teams. Coordinate closely with palliative care teams, nurses, physiotherapists, and psychologists for comprehensive patient care. Patient Support & Communication Educate patients and their families about treatment goals, procedures, and potential side effects. Candidate Profile Essential Qualifications MD/DNB in Radiation Oncology from a recognized institution. Minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience in a tertiary care or dedicated oncology setup. Strong foundation in radiation planning, patient evaluation, and treatment execution. Technical Skills Proficiency with radiation therapy systems such as LINAC, CT simulators, and brachytherapy devices. Familiarity with treatment planning software (e.g., Eclipse, ARIA, MOSAIQ) and electronic medical records. Deep understanding of safety regulations, quality assurance, and radiation hygiene protocols. Soft Skills Patient-first mindset with high levels of empathy and emotional intelligence. Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective patient counseling and team coordination. Collaborative approach with the ability to work in a high-performance, cross-functional environment. Preferred Experience Prior work in NABH-accredited hospitals or oncology institutes. Responsibilities : Academic & Teaching Responsibilities: Deliver lectures and tutorials in medical physics to undergraduate and postgraduate students (MBBS, MD, MSc, MPhil, PhD). Develop and update course materials, lab manuals, and training modules. Supervise student research projects, theses, and dissertations. Participate in academic evaluations, viva, and curriculum design. Clinical & Technical Support: Collaborate with radiation oncologists in treatment planning (2D, 3D-CRT, IMRT, VMAT, IGRT, SRS/SBRT). Perform dosimetric calculations, quality assurance (QA), and commissioning of linear accelerators, brachytherapy, and other radiological equipment. Implement and maintain radiation safety protocols as per AERB standards. Perform regular machine QA, calibration (e.g., ion chamber dosimetry), and support patient-specific QA. Radiation Protection & Safety: Act as Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) or support the RSO in ensuring compliance with AERB regulations. Conduct training and awareness sessions for staff on radiation safety. Maintain documentation and regulatory compliance for all radiological equipment. Research & Development: Conduct and publish original research in the fields of radiation dosimetry, treatment planning, imaging technologies, or radiobiology. Write and submit research grants, collaborate with national/international institutions. Attend and present at national/international conferences and workshops. Administrative & QA Duties: Maintain academic and clinical documentation, including SOPs and logbooks. Assist in preparing for audits, accreditations (NABH, NAAC, AERB), and departmental inspections. Support procurement, installation, and upgradation of physics equipment. Qualifications : Educational Qualification: M.Sc. in Medical Physics / M.Sc. in Physics with Post M.Sc.
