Role Description: Lets do this. We are seeking an experienced Senior BI Engineer to lead the design, development, and optimization of scalable business intelligence (BI) solutions that empower data-driven decision-making across the organization. The ideal candidate is highly skilled in data modeling, dashboard development, ETL design, and cloud-based BI platforms, with a passion for turning complex data into clear, actionable insights. As a senior member of the BI team, you will work closely with data engineers, analysts, business stakeholders, and product teams to deliver robust, user-friendly analytics solutions that support strategic and operational goals. Roles & Responsibilities: Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade BI dashboards and reports using tools like Power BI, Tableau, or Looker. Build and optimize semantic models, tabular data structures, and reusable datasets for self-service BI users. Partner with business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions, delivering accurate, relevant, and timely insights. Work closely with data engineering teams to integrate BI solutions into data lake, warehouse, or lakehouse architectures (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, Databricks, BigQuery). Implement best practices for BI development, including version control, performance optimization, and data governance. Ensure BI solutions are secure, scalable, and aligned with enterprise data governance standards. Mentor junior BI developers and analysts, setting standards for dashboard usability, data visualization, and design consistency. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to promote self-service BI adoption and data literacy throughout the organization. Monitor BI performance, usage, and adoption, providing continuous improvements and training to enhance impact. Must-Have Skills: 5 - 8 years of experience in BI development and data visualization, with deep expertise in tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker. Strong knowledge of SQL, data modeling techniques, and BI architecture best practices. Experience working with data warehouses and cloud data platforms Proficiency in building dashboards, KPIs, and executive-level reporting that align with business priorities. Solid understanding of ETL/ELT processes, data pipelines, and integration with BI tools. Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across engineering, product, finance, and business teams. Excellent communication skills, with a proven ability to translate technical concepts into business value. Good-to-Have Skills: Experience in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and modern data stack environments. Familiarity with data governance, data cataloging, metadata management, and access control. Exposure to Agile methodologies, CI/CD for BI, and DevOps practices. BI or data certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst, Tableau Certified Professional). Education and Professional Certifications Masters degree and 3 to 4 + years of Computer Science, IT or related field experience OR Bachelors degree and 5 to 8 + years of Computer Science, IT or related field experience PowerBI / Tableau certifications preferred Scaled Agile SAFe certification preferred Soft Skills: Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to work effectively with global, virtual teams High degree of initiative and self-motivation. Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain high quality data warehouse solution. Maintain accurate and complete technical architectural documents. Collaborate with BI Developers and Business Analysts for successful development of BI reporting and analysis. Work with business groups and technical teams to develop and maintain data warehouse platform for BI reporting. Develop scalable and maintainable data layer for BI applications to meet business objectives. To work in a small, smart, agile team designing, developing and owning full solution for an assigned data area Develop standards, patterns, best practices for reuse and acceleration. Perform maintenance and troubleshooting activities in Azure data platform. Analyze, plan and develop requirements and standards in reference to scheduled projects. Partake in process to define clear project deliverables. Coordinate the development of standards, patterns, best practices for reuse and acceleration. Years and Type of Experience: 5-10 years working with BI and data warehouse solutions. Key Required Skills, Knowledge and Capabilities: Good understanding of business logic and understanding of their needs. Some experience with Databricks and dbt is desirable. Worked with Azure DevOps code repository, version control and task management. Strong proficiency with SQL and its variation among popular databases.
