Backup Administrator

Must Haves:

Primary Skills:

• Bachelors degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field.

• 5+ years of experience in backup administration and enterprise storage management.

• Proven hands-on experience with Veritas NetBackup, Veeam, and Avamar.

• Familiarity with VMware, Windows, and Linux environments.

• Configure and maintain Azure Backup and Recovery Services Vaults for various workloads (VMs, SQL, Azure Files, etc.).

Secondary Skills:

• Strong experience in managing Dell Storage, Data Domain, and VxRail platforms.

• Good understanding of RTO/RPO, disaster recovery, and data lifecycle management.

• Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently.

Storage Responsibilities: Dell EMC PowerStore:

• Configure and manage PowerStore T/X models including block, file, and VMwareintegrated storage.

• Perform storage provisioning, LUN creation, volume groups, and host mappings.

• Monitor performance and system health via Unisphere for PowerStore.

• Configure replication, snapshots, thin clones, and data reduction technologies.

• Apply firmware updates, drive replacements, and hardware expansions.

NetApp ONTAP Storage:

• Manage NetApp FAS/AFF arrays using ONTAP 9.x (Clustered Mode).

• Configure and maintain aggregates, volumes, LUNs, and qtrees.

• Administer CIFS/NFS shares, SnapMirror, SnapVault, FlexClone, and SnapCenter.

• Monitor and optimize storage using Active IQ Unified Manager and System Manager.

• Troubleshoot NetApp storage issues related to performance, replication, and access control.

General Duties:

• Provide SAN zoning, iSCSI/FC connectivity, and LUN masking for Linux/Windows/VMware hosts.

• Collaborate with virtualization, backup, and database teams to align storage with workload requirements.

• Plan and execute disaster recovery simulations and data migration tasks.

• Maintain accurate documentation of configurations, runbooks, and topology diagrams.

• Troubleshoot alerts and coordinate with vendor support (NetApp, Dell EMC) for escalated issues.

• Ensure compliance with RTO/RPO, backup retention, and audit requirements.
