Assistant Professor of Psychology

An Assistant Professor in Psychology with a doctorate is primarily responsible for teaching undergraduate and/or postgraduate courses, conducting research, and mentoring students.

Key Responsibilities:

• Teaching: Develop and deliver lectures, create course materials (syllabi, assignments, etc.), conduct assessments (exams, papers, etc.), and facilitate classroom discussions in undergraduate and graduate psychology courses.
• Research: Conduct independent research, supervise student research projects, and publish findings in peer-reviewed journals.
• Mentoring: Provide academic advising and career guidance to students, helping them navigate their educational and professional journeys.
• Curriculum Development: Contribute to the development and review of course curricula, ensuring they align with current trends and best practices in the field.
• Departmental Involvement: Participate in departmental meetings, contribute to strategic planning, and collaborate with colleagues on various initiatives.
• Service: Engage in university and community service activities, such as participating in committees, attending university events, and contributing to outreach programs.
• Professional Development: Stay current with the latest research and trends in psychology and incorporate new knowledge into teaching and research.

Qualifications:

• Doctoral Degree: A Ph.D. in Psychology is typically required.
• Research Experience: Demonstrated ability to conduct and publish research in psychology.
• Teaching Experience: Prior experience teaching psychology courses at the college or university level is often preferred.
• Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential for teaching, research, and mentoring.
• Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills are needed for effective collaboration with colleagues and for mentoring students.
