Role Overview

Assistant Manager – Product Category

Key Responsibilities

• Category Ownership:

  Manage complete lifecycle of a product category — from conceptualization to post-launch performance.

• Market Research & Benchmarking:

  Analyze consumer trends, competitor offerings, pricing strategies, and feature sets to inform product development and pricing decisions.

• Product Development Coordination:

  Liaise with R&D, design, manufacturing, and external OEM/ODM partners to ensure timely and quality product development.

• Portfolio Strategy:

  Define short- and long-term category strategies, including roadmap planning, SKU rationalization, and lifecycle planning.

• P&L and Costing:

  Drive cost optimization without compromising on product quality. Monitor margins, BOM costs, and vendor commercials.

• Go-to-Market (GTM) Planning:

  Collaborate with Marketing, Supply Chain, and E-commerce teams to ensure effective launches and seamless customer experience.

• Data & Insights:

  Use internal dashboards and external analytics to monitor product performance, plan inventory, and recommend iterations.

Must-Have Skills

• In-depth understanding of the

  consumer electronics

  industry, especially wearables, audio, or personal care electronics.
• Proven experience in

  product lifecycle management

  , from ideation to EOL.
• Exposure to

  hardware product development

  with OEM/ODM collaboration (especially with China-based partners).
• Strong in

  competitive analysis

  , benchmarking, and pricing strategy.
• Ability to derive actionable insights from market and consumer data.
  
• Cross-functional collaboration and project management skills.
  
• Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
  

Preferred Background

• Prior experience at leading consumer tech brands.
  
• Familiarity with tier-1 and tier-2 manufacturing ecosystems in electronics.
