The Mechanical Engineer at Lam will be responsible for designing and defining cutting-edge mechanical, thermo-mechanical, and electro-mechanical systems. Your role will involve feasibility studies, testing, and detailed design & development. You will own and execute medium-complex Mechanical sub-system projects to design, develop, optimize, and implement design solutions in Lam Products. These projects will be driven as part of NPD, Continuous Improvement Programs (CIP), cost reduction, and/or reliability improvement initiatives. In collaboration with both internal and external Cross Functional Teams (CFT), you will ensure that the product design meets its objectives, validate the design through performance testing, and obtain approvals by following the Product Development & Release (PDR) process. You will develop and present reports/presentations of excellent quality that communicate design intent, analysis, and validation at design reviews. Additionally, you will develop and execute test plans to generate characterization data sufficient to understand and validate the performance of the design. Your responsibilities will also include performing analytical work to characterize and specify designs, including heat transfer, stress, vibrations, fluid/gas dynamics, and manufacturability. You will design and develop thermo-mechanical components with an understanding of fluid flow characteristics. The ideal candidate for this role will have a Bachelors's or Masters's degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 4-8 years of relevant experience. Hands-on experience in taking designs from concepts to detailed engineering, including tolerance analysis, problem-solving, testing, and interaction with suppliers, will be valuable. You should be able to identify technical risks and mitigate them through appropriate calculations, conduct design reviews, and seek approval in collaboration with stakeholders to implement design. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for this role, as you will be required to present design concepts to peers and management effectively. Knowledge and exposure to relevant industry standards such as ANSI, ASME, SAE, ISO, and SEMI will be preferred. As a Plant 3D Piping Designer, your main responsibility will be designing and detailing piping systems using Plant 3D software. You will focus on creating accurate and efficient piping layouts and detailed drawings that meet project specifications, industry standards, and safety regulations. Using Plant 3D software, you will develop detailed piping designs, isometrics, and construction drawings. Collaboration with engineers and project managers is essential to comprehend project requirements, scope, and objectives. Building 3D models of piping systems, equipment, and supports based on design calculations and specifications will be part of your role. It is crucial to ensure that the designs comply with relevant codes, standards (such as ASME, ANSI, API), and regulatory requirements. You will work closely with other disciplines like process, mechanical, and structural engineers to integrate piping designs into the overall plant layout. Site visits and surveys may be required to gather field data and verify design requirements. Additionally, responsibilities include preparing material take-offs, bill of materials (BOMs), and cost estimates for piping components and installations. Your role involves reviewing and revising designs based on feedback from stakeholders, including engineering team members and clients. You will assist in resolving technical issues during construction and provide support to the project team as necessary. To excel in this position, you should hold a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field. Proven experience as a Piping Designer using Plant 3D software or similar CAD tools is required. Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams), and technical documents is a must. Position Title: Mechanical Draftsperson Department: Engineering Location: Pune, India Reports To: Assistant Manager Mechanical Design Direct Reports: None Position Purpose Support the development of efficient, cost-effective plant designs and ensure timely delivery of project design outputs. Provide technical drafting expertise for Sales, Projects, and Operations teams throughout project life cycles. Key Responsibilities Design & Documentation Prepare detailed mechanical and piping designs and associated documentation. Create 2D and 3D models including plot plans, piping GA drawings, isometrics, skid layouts, and structural fabrication drawings. Develop bills of materials and general engineering documents (e.g., civil guide drawings). Ensure all deliverables comply with quality standards and customer specifications. Project Support Participate in internal, external, and vendor meetings. Contribute to design reviews and incorporate feedback within project constraints. Identify and communicate risks, delays, and design changes to relevant stakeholders. Assist in project closures, including preparation of as-built drawings. Quality & Compliance Adhere to ISO and internal quality management systems. Investigate and close out non-conformance reports (NCRs) and opportunities for improvement (OFIs). Support safety and environmental incident investigations as required. Additional Contributions Support proposal engineers during pre-sales design work.
