The Agriculture Expert is responsible for providing specialized knowledge and expertise in various aspects of agriculture, including crop production, soil management, pest control, irrigation systems, and sustainable farming practices. This role involves advising farmers, agricultural businesses, government agencies, and other stakeholders on best practices to optimize agricultural productivity, profitability, and environmental sustainability. Key Responsibilities : Technical Advisory and Consulting : Provide expert guidance and advice to farmers and agricultural stakeholders on crop selection, cultivation techniques, and agronomic practices. Conduct farm assessments and soil analyses to identify opportunities for improving crop yields, soil health, and resource efficiency. Recommend appropriate fertilizers, pesticides, and crop protection measures based on integrated pest management (IPM) principles and environmental considerations. Research and Development : Stay abreast of the latest advancements and research findings in agriculture, agronomy, and agrotechnology. Design and implement field trials, experiments, and research projects to evaluate new crop varieties, farming methods, and technologies. Collaborate with research institutions, universities, and industry partners to develop innovative solutions to agricultural challenges. Training and Capacity Building : Conduct training sessions, workshops, and extension programs to educate farmers and agricultural workers on best practices and new technologies. Facilitate knowledge transfer and skills development in areas such as crop management, irrigation techniques, and post - harvest handling. Empower farmers to adopt sustainable farming practices that enhance productivity, conserve natural resources, and mitigate climate change impacts. Policy Advocacy and Stakeholder Engagement : Advocate for policies and initiatives that support the interests of farmers, promote agricultural innovation, and ensure food security. Engage with government agencies, non - profit organizations, and industry associations to influence agricultural policy formulation and implementation. Build partnerships and networks with stakeholders across the agricultural value chain to foster collaboration and knowledge sharing. Project Management and Implementation : Lead or contribute to agricultural development projects, including needs assessment, project planning, budgeting, and monitoring. Coordinate with project teams, partners, and beneficiaries to ensure effective project implementation and achievement of objectives. Prepare reports, presentations, and technical documents to communicate project outcomes, lessons learned, and recommendations.

About the position: WOTR is looking for motivated individual as an Agriculture Expert. Job Locations: Baran, Rajasthan Job profile/ Scope of Work : Develop systems to address gaps in agriculture interventions at farm level such as SCI method of cultivations for various crops and on improving soil productivity Preparing Farmers field school (FFS) modules for all relevant Agriculture Interventions. Design and develop sustainable crop management practices and provide support in their uptake at field level Good knowledge of policy analysis and quantitative data analysis but should have the flexibility to do qualitative data analysis, too (if required); skill in developing of tools for investigation (quantitative and qualitative) Conduct review of literature to identify intervention on climate adaptive agriculture practices and support in their demonstration at field level and further upscale. To collaborate with different teams, universities, research institutes to undertake various studies. Support in undertaking extension works from research institutes such as ICRISAT, state universities, CRIDA etc., at field level Contribute to research papers and articles preferably in peer review journals and publications Assists and also write proposals to various donors and institutes for research funding on carbon capture models Qualifications & Experience: Bachelor in Agriculture or Masters in Agriculture or relevant subject Minimum 4-5 years relevant field experience Knowledge of Local Language and Hindi preferred.
