Job Description

Service Foods, a leading food distribution company in New Zealand, is seekinga highly skilled and motivated Management Accountant based in India. The ideal candidate will havea strong background in accounting and finance, holding a CA or CPA qualification. The candidate willbe responsible for key financial functions, including month-end accounting and financial reporting,and will work closely with our finance team to enhance the efficiency of our financial processes.Key responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

1. Month-End Accounting:

a) Prepare and manage all month-end accounting processes, including accruals, prepayments, and

journal entries.

b) Ensure all financial records are accurate and up to date.

2. Work papers and Reconciliation:

a) Prepare detailed work papers to support financial statements, ensuring clarity and ease of

understanding.

b) Create and maintain complex accrual and provision accounts, making them easy to understand

and

review.

c) Reconcile balance sheet accounts, ensuring all discrepancies are investigated and resolved.

d) Lock in the balance sheet in a timely manner.

3. Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable Support:

a) Assist the Accounts Payable team with reconciliation and cut-off procedures, ensuring all invoices

and payments are accurately recorded and processed.

b) Provide support and guidance in using Beanworks, our automated Accounts Payable software,

ensuring smooth and efficient operation.

c) Collaborate with the Accounts Receivable team to ensure timely and accurate receipt processing

and management of outstanding balances.

4. Financial Reporting:

a) Prepare and present financial reports, comparing actuals against budgets, identifying variances,

and providing explanations.

b) Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

5. Internal Audit:

a) Complete internal audit functions to assess the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls

and financial processes.

b) Identify areas of risk and inefficiencies, providing recommendations for improvements.

c) Ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

6. Audit Support:

a) Create and manage files for external auditors, ensuring all documentation is accurate and

complete.

b) Act as a key point of contact for external auditors during year-end audits, providing necessary

information and support.

7. Team Collaboration:

a) Work closely with the finance team and finance manager to ensure smooth and efficient financial

operations.

b) Provide financial analysis and insights to support decision-making.

c) Assist in training and supporting other members of the finance team as needed.

8. Process Improvement:

a) Identify opportunities to streamline financial processes, particularly around cut-off procedures, to

improve the speed and accuracy of financial reporting.

b) Implement best practices to ensure the finance function operates efficiently and effectively.

9. Maintain Confidentiality:

a) Deal with sensitive and confidential information in an appropriate manner, ensuring confidentiality

is maintained including customer or proprietary information, trade secrets etc.

b) Continuously seek opportunities to streamline processes and enhance the overall experience for

customers.

c) Provide feedback and insights to support continuous improvement across the Organisation.

10. Health and Safety requirements:

(a) Maintain personal hygiene standards and adhere to food safety guidelines when handling goods.

(b) Understand and follow procedures in case of emergencies involving warehouse equipment such

as

accidents or breakdowns, including knowing who to contact for assistance.

(c) Manage fatigue by taking mandatory rest breaks and adhering to break times during work hours.

(d) Maintain open communication with management regarding any safety concerns or incidents

encountered during warehouse operations.

(e) Strict adherence to Personnel Health agreement, Food Safety and quality policies and

processes.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

Key attributes:

Qualification:

Bachelor s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) qualification is essential.

Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a similar role, with a strong understanding of financial

accounting and reporting.

Experience working in a global or outsourced finance team is preferred.

Skills and Competencies:

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

Familiarity with Beanworks or similar automated Accounts Payable software is preferred.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote

team environment.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
