Description
As a Quality Engineer (QE) / Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) at Simpplr, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of employee experience through a modern intranet platform used by leading enterprises worldwide. You will be an integral part of a cross-functional product team, contributing from story grooming to release, with a focus on building quality into every layer of the stack. Your responsibilities will include participating in requirement discussions, defining test strategies, influencing design and architecture with a quality-first mindset, and planning testing early to ensure a fast and reliable delivery pipeline. In this hands-on engineering position, you will engineer quality across the lifecycle by designing and maintaining automation frameworks using tools such as Selenium, Cucumber BDD, and JUnit or TestNG. You will build scalable test systems, set up pre-merge validations, and automate end-to-end flows, component-level tests, and API validations that are fast and reliable. Leveraging data to drive quality, you will implement observability, build dashboards to track key quality indicators, and collaborate with engineering and product teams to continuously improve test coverage and reduce escape rates through data-backed insights. Your role will also involve integrating tests into CI/CD workflows, embedding tests within GitHub workflows or Jenkins pipelines, creating fail-fast mechanisms to catch issues before deployment, and championing modern practices like contract testing, test data versioning, and environment stability. Additionally, you will collaborate across disciplines, engage in sprint planning and backlog grooming, work closely with developers, infrastructure engineers, and data teams, and coach junior engineers to foster a culture of engineering excellence. The ideal candidate for this role will have 3 to 5 years of experience in quality engineering or SDET roles, strong coding skills in JS, playwright, and experience with frameworks like Cucumber BDD, JUnit, or TestNG. Hands-on experience with UI testing and tools like Postman, RestAssured, or JMeter for API testing, as well as experience integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions or Jenkins, are essential. Personal attributes such as an ownership mindset, proactive problem-solving skills, excellent collaboration and communication skills, and comfort working in fast-paced product environments are highly valued. Experience with performance or security testing, exposure to microservices or cloud-native testing approaches, and certifications such as ISTQB or agile quality credentials are considered bonus points. At Simpplr, QEs and SDETs are true engineering partners, involved from the earliest stages of feature development, designing systems and tools to prevent bugs, taking shared ownership of quality KPIs alongside developers and product, and embedding quality into every layer of the development process. Simpplr operates with a Hub-Hybrid-Remote model, providing employees with the flexibility to work from the office full-time (Hub), work from home and office (Hybrid), or work remotely (Remote) within their country of hire, based on role requirements and preferences.,
