Software Development Engineer II

Nykaa is seeking a Software Development Engineer 2 (SDE-2) with 3-4 years of Java experience to join the Order Management System (OMS) / Return Management System (RMS) team. As an SDE-2, you will play a crucial role in managing the end-to-end order and return journey, ensuring smooth customer experiences even during peak sales events. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will focus on enhancing system performance, scalability, and availability. Your responsibilities will include designing, developing, and maintaining high-performance, scalable, and resilient microservices for order and return management. You will optimize systems to handle millions of daily transactions with 99.99% uptime during peak sales, collaborate with Product, Business, and Infrastructure teams, and implement best coding practices and design patterns for high-quality solutions. Additionally, you will work on database optimization, caching strategies, and distributed system design to enhance performance and drive automation and monitoring tools for smooth operations. The ideal candidate will have 3-4 years of backend development experience using Java and Spring Boot, along with a strong understanding of microservices architecture, distributed systems, and event-driven systems. Experience with databases like MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Redis, as well as messaging queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ) and caching mechanisms (Redis, Memcached) is required. Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), DevOps practices, and problem-solving skills are essential. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and observability tools is a plus. It is advantageous to have exposure to E-commerce, Logistics, or Order Management Systems, experience with AI/ML-driven solutions, and knowledge of performance tuning, stress testing, and benchmarking tools.
