Senior Automation Engineer - R&D - Ahmedabad

Position Title: Sr. Engineer Automation - Ahmedabad

Department: R&D Team

To lead and support the R&D Team in design and development, installation, and commissioning of automation systems across various capital equipment's projects, with a strong focus on PLC programming, HMI/SCADA integration, electrical wiring schematics, and preparation of bill of materials (BOM).

The role requires a detail-oriented engineer with hands-on experience and technical expertise in industrial automation.

Key Responsibilities:

• PLC Programming:

• Develop, test, and debug PLC programs (Siemens, Allen Bradley, Schneider, etc.) based on project specifications. (Siemens PLC programming)
• Modify and optimize existing logic as per process requirements.

• HMI & SCADA Development:

• Design and configure HMI screens and SCADA interfaces for control and monitoring.
• Ensure intuitive and operator-friendly user interfaces with appropriate alarms, trends, and reporting.

• Wiring Drawings & Electrical Design:

• Prepare detailed wiring diagrams using tools like AutoCAD Electrical
• Understand control panel design, IO mapping, and instrument wiring.

• Bill of Materials (BOM):

• Prepare and verify the BOM for automation projects, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Coordinate with the procurement team for timely availability of materials and components.

• Project Execution:

• Participate in project planning, execution, and commissioning at site as needed.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety norms, and project deadlines.

• Troubleshooting & Support:

• Provide technical support during installation and after-sales support.
• Troubleshoot control system issues on PLC/HMI/SCADA level and implement corrective actions.

• Collaboration & Documentation:

• Work closely with cross-functional teams mechanical, electrical, and process engineering.
• Maintain proper documentation for all programs, diagrams, and technical manuals.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• B.E./B. Tech in Electrical / Electronics / Instrumentation / Automation Engineering
• 4 to 7 years of experience in industrial automation
• Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with PLC, HMI, SCADA systems
• Proficiency in electrical drawing software like AutoCAD
• Good understanding of wiring practices, panel design, and instrumentation
• Experience in preparing and managing BOM for automation projects
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and analytical skills

Preferred Experience:

• Exposure to automation in metallurgical / process / manufacturing industries
• Experience in PLC brands such as Siemens, Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi, or Schneider
• Familiarity with protocols like Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP, OPC
