Research Assistant (Breeding)

Responsibilities:

Field Trial Management:

• Assist in identifying trial hotspots and selecting appropriate farmer collaborators.
• Coordinate and arrange field trials in multiple agro-climatic zones.
• Ensure timely sowing, transplanting, and field management practices as per breeding protocols.

Farmer Collaboration:

• Establish and maintain strong relationships with farmers for trial implementation.
• Guide farmers on required agronomic practices and monitor field operations regularly.

Data Collection & Reporting:

• Conduct timely field observations and collect accurate phenotypic data across crop stages.
• Maintain detailed trial records and support digital data entry using MS Excel and other tools.

Travel & Location Flexibility:

• Willing to travel frequently across India to manage trials.
• Open to working in rural field conditions and different climatic zones.

Seed Handling & Trial Support:

• Support seed distribution, labeling, sowing, and harvesting activities.
• Ensure traceability and proper documentation of each trial plot.

Communication & Team Coordination:

• Collaborate closely with Crop Breeders, fellow research staff, and external partners.
• Communicate effectively in

  Hindi

  and local languages to ensure smooth trial operations.

Skills:

• Prior experience in vegetable or field crop research is preferred.

• Proficient in MS Excel and Microsoft Office tools.

• Good understanding of crop production cycles and agronomic practices.
• Must understand and speak

  Hindi

  fluently; knowledge of local languages is a plus.
• Strong observation skills, discipline, and willingness to learn.
