Purchase Engineer

Job Description

Job Summary: We are looking for a detail-oriented and strategic Purchase Engineer to join our procurement team. The Purchase Engineer will be responsible for sourcing quality materials, negotiating with suppliers, ensuring timely delivery, and supporting cost-effective purchasing strategies aligned with project and production requirements. Key Responsibilities: Identify, evaluate, and qualify new vendors and suppliers. Understand technical specifications and ensure procurement of materials and components that meet required standards. Prepare RFQs (Request for Quotations), compare quotes, and negotiate prices, terms, and delivery schedules. Issue Purchase Orders (POs) and monitor order status to ensure timely delivery. Collaborate with internal teams (design, production, QA/QC, finance) to align purchasing decisions with project and operational needs. Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation. Assist in nventory control and materials planning. Track supplier performance and manage vendor relationships. Work on cost reduction initiatives and process improvements in the procurement function. Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations. Key Skills & Competencies: Strong negotiation and communication skills Technical understanding of engineering drawings and specifications Knowledge of supply chain management principles Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP) Problem-solving and analytical skills Familiarity with vendor development and auditing Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills. Preferred Qualifications: Mechanical Engineering Background : B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Industry Experience : Experience in sourcing and purchasing Capital equipment, consumables and components for the industrial machinery, heavy engineering, or manufacturing sectors.
