Job Description

Job Title: Pharmacist

Location:

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Dispensing Medications:

    Accurately dispense prescribed medications to patients as per the doctors prescription, ensuring clarity and compliance.
  2. Medication Safety:

    Ensure that all medications issued are within their expiry dates and stored as per recommended guidelines.
  3. Patient Counseling:

    Clearly explain dosage, usage instructions, potential side effects, and other critical information to patients and their caregivers, ensuring full understanding.
  4. Inventory Management:

    Maintain up-to-date records of medicine stock and usage in both the office and mobile unit (van).Ensure the medicine inventory is regularly reconciled with physical stock.
  5. Stock Documentation:

    Maintain and regularly update all registers and documents related to medicine transactions, stock, and consumption.
  6. Medicine Requisition:

    In coordination with the doctor, prepare and maintain the Medicine Requisition Indent Form for timely procurement of drugs.
  7. Consumption Reporting:

    Document all drugs dispensed and generate periodic Medicines Consumption Reports.
  8. Expiry Management (FEFO):

    Follow the "First Expiry, First Out" (FEFO) method diligently to minimize medicine wastage due to expiry.
  9. Community Support:

    Assist in community mobilization and registration of beneficiaries as needed.
  10. Basic Diagnostics:

    Conduct basic diagnostic procedures as and when required.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Educational Qualification:

    Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy (B.Pharm / D.Pharm)
  • Registration:

    Valid registration with the State Pharmacy Council.
  • Experience:

    Minimum 6 month-2 years of relevant experience in dispensing medicines and managing inventory, preferably in a clinical or community health setting.
  • Freshers with strong knowledge and skills may also apply.
  • Knowledge & Skills:

    • Good understanding of pharmacology and drug interactions
    • Familiarity with maintaining medicine inventory and records
    • Ability to explain prescriptions and medication use clearly to patients
    • Attention to detail and accuracy in dispensing
    • Basic knowledge of using diagnostic equipment (preferred)
    • Proficient in maintaining documentation and reports
