Postdoctoral Fellow - DNA nanotechnology

This role is based in Australia at one of Australia's leading research & teaching universities, UNSW. The DNA Nanotech Lab at UNSW Sydney is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to join their team. In this role, you will work at the intersection of supramolecular chemistry, DNA nanotechnology, and biomaterials science under the supervision of Dr. Felix Rizzuto. As a postdoctoral researcher, you will be responsible for constructing functional and responsive systems using DNA and RNA self-assembly techniques. This hands-on research role offers significant intellectual freedom where you will design and implement programs focusing on the chemistry of small and light-activated molecules for non-equilibrium DNA systems. You will also be involved in characterizing materials using advanced imaging techniques and collaborating with a diverse team of students and researchers across multiple disciplines. The role offers a salary range of $113K - $121K plus 17% Superannuation and annual leave loading for a fixed term of 2 years on a full-time basis (35 hours per week). Reporting to Scientia Senior Lecturer Dr. Felix Rizzuto, the role does not involve direct reports. To be successful in this role, you should hold a PhD in Chemistry, Biotechnology, Nanotechnology, or a related field. Strong prior experience in DNA nanoscience and/or DNA origami synthesis and characterisation is required. Previous experience with non-academic and industry projects is desirable, along with expertise in supramolecular chemistry, computational modeling, and/or biochemistry. Demonstrated ability to conduct high-quality academic research independently, supervise students, and collaborate effectively across disciplines are key requirements.
