Job Description

Role Overview The Oracle DBA Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, configuration, and ongoing management of Oracle Database environments primarily focusing on Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC), high-availability architectures, and performance optimization. You will work closely with application teams, network and storage engineers, and third-party vendors to ensure database environments meet stringent uptime, security, and compliance requirements. Key Responsibilities RAC Implementation & Management Plan, install, configure, and maintain Oracle RAC clusters on Linux environments. Monitor cluster health, perform node addition/removal, and manage SCAN listeners. Database Configuration & Administration Provision new databases, configure initialization parameters, and create tablespaces. Implement and manage ASM disks, disk groups, and storage allocations. High Availability & Disaster Recovery Design and manage Data Guard configurations (physical/logical standby). Develop and test backup and recovery strategies using RMAN; perform regular restore drills. Performance Tuning & Optimization Analyze AWR/ASH reports; tune SQL queries, memory structures (SGA, PGA), and I/O. Configure and use Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) for proactive monitoring. Patching & Upgrades Plan and execute database patching (CPU, PSU) and major version upgrades with minimal downtime. Coordinate change windows with stakeholders and perform post-patch validation. Security & Compliance Enforce database security policies, user authentication (LDAP/OS), profiles, and roles. Apply encryption, auditing, and lockdown measures to meet RBI and internal audit standards. Automation & Scripting Develop shell and PL/SQL scripts for routine tasks (health checks, backups, log rotation). Leverage automation frameworks (Ansible/n8n) to streamline standard operating procedures. Vendor & Third-Party Coordination Liaise with hardware, storage, and software vendors for escalations, support, and license renewals. Manage third-party cost optimization for database licensing and support agreements. Documentation & Knowledge Sharing Maintain up-to-date runbooks, architecture diagrams, and SOPs. Conduct knowledge transfer sessions and mentor junior DBAs. Required Qualifications & Skills Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience as an Oracle DBA in a banking or financial services environment. Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) credential preferred. Expertise in Oracle RAC (11g/12c/19c) installation, configuration, and troubleshooting. Strong knowledge of ASM, Data Guard, RMAN, OEM, and Clusterware. Proficiency in Linux OS (Red Hat / CentOS / Oracle Linux). SQL & PL/SQL development experience for performance tuning. Familiarity with high-availability architectures, backup/recovery, and disaster-recovery planning. Solid understanding of networking, storage concepts (SAN/NFS), and OS-level tuning. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to work under pressure and handle production emergencies
