NYGCI - Backup Administrator - IT Infrastructure
Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Backup Administrator to join our IT infrastructure team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with enterprise backup technologies including Veritas NetBackup, Cohesity, EMC Data Domain, Dell EMC Avamar, and DPA (Data Protection Advisor). This role is responsible for ensuring the integrity, availability, and recoverability of enterprise data across multiple platforms. Key Responsibilities Design, implement, and manage enterprise-level data backup and recovery solutions. Administer and maintain Veritas NetBackup environment, including policy creation, troubleshooting, upgrades, and performance tuning. Manage Cohesity clusters and policies for backup, archival, and recovery tasks. Operate and maintain Data Domain systems including DD Boost, replication, and retention policies. Configure and support Dell EMC Avamar for image-level and file-level backups. Use DPA (Dell EMC Data Protection Advisor) for monitoring, reporting, and auditing backup environments. Perform daily health checks, backup job monitoring, and incident resolution. Conduct periodic disaster recovery (DR) tests and maintain documentation. Collaborate with application, storage, and cloud teams to ensure optimal protection strategies. Work on automation and scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Python, or shell scripts) for operational efficiency. Maintain strong security posture and compliance with corporate policies and industry standards. Required 5+ years of experience in enterprise backup and recovery operations. Strong hands-on experience with Veritas NetBackup administration and configuration. Proficient in Cohesity data protection and recovery workflows. In-depth knowledge of Dell EMC Data Domain systems and integration with backup software. Experience with Dell EMC Avamar including client configurations and backups. Familiarity with Dell EMC DPA for analytics and performance monitoring. Solid understanding of backup strategies (full/incremental/differential), retention policies, and deduplication techniques.
