MS SQL Database Management - MS SQL Database Administrator (L2)

Role Purpose

We are seeking an experienced SQL Database Administrator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills and experience in managing and supporting MS SQL Database including Failover Cluster, Always ON Setup and new server provisioning, Transaction replication, Link Servers, Hardening, patching in day-to-day operations.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

1) Monitor generated log and event files indicating errors that will result in an incident

2) DR Database availability Monitoring

3) Monitor database log replication

4) Report Status of Log Replications as per agreed schedules

5) Session/Query/Log/Latch monitoring

6) Monitor the DB for failures and logged system events that indicate an imminent failure

7) Purging database Logs and trace files

8) Periodic config review to maintain consistent configurations

9) Review and recommendation to maintain availability

10) Monthly report on database availability

11) Monitor the DB for failures and logged system events that indicate imminent failure.

12) Reinstall Database software

13) Reconfigure log Shipping

14) Transaction replication Configuration

15) Link Servers configuration

16) Failover clustering

17) Always ON

18) Responding to database related incidents and driving corrective action

19) Tuning DB parameters

20) Correlate related incidents together into a problem ticket and manage through the problem management process

21) Use trend analysis to identify, detail, categorize, prioritize and create Problems Management Records.

22) Restoration of database

23) Creating jobs/job schedule for routine/Maintenance jobs & Rebuilding of indexes

24) Purging database Logs and trace files & Performance Management

25) Defragmentation of Database and performance tuning

26) Manage all Service requests through the change management process

27) Automate administration tasks where possible

28) Manage and update all Database environment documentation

Technical Skills/Knowledge Requirement

1) Database troubleshooting, patching and Failover cluster and Always ON (Must)

2) Replication, hardening, Link Server (Addon)

3) Database Hardening and Job Scheduling

4) Database Migration

Qualification

B.E./Diploma/BSC/BTech (No education gap, Full time)

1. B.E. / Diploma [ In Computers Science, IT , Electronics & Telecommunication ] [ Civil and Mechanical not preferred]

2. B.Sc. -IT

3. BCA or MCA [ Full time course from reputed University]

4. No gap in education [ Passing year for S.S.C , H.S.C. and Degree/Diploma to be mentioned]

Certifications Required if ANY: Relevant Certification (Preference)

Specific Remarks/Requirement by customer:

Database troubleshooting and Failover cluster, Always ON working experience is Mandatory
