Ms Sql Database Administrator

Role & responsibilities

Database Administration and Management

• Install, configure, and maintain MS-SQL Server databases (2014 and higher

versions) in both standalone and failover cluster environments

• Implement and maintain database security, roles, and access controls to ensure

compliance and data protection.

• Execute database backups and restores according to established schedules and

recovery requirements

• Plan and execute SQL Server cummulative and service pack upgrades with

minimal downtime impact

High Availability and Disaster Recovery

• Configure and maintain Log Shipping for database redundancy and disaster

recovery

• Implement and manage SQL Server Replication across multiple environments
• Develop and maintain robust Disaster Recovery processes and procedures
• Ensure business continuity through effective failover cluster management
• Support Monthly OS Patching activities and coordinate with Windows team

Monitoring Solutions

• Utilize monitoring tools including LogicMonitor and SolarWinds DPA for proactive

database performance monitoring

• Implement database monitoring strategies and performance tuning to optimize

system efficiency

• Work with ITSM management tools like Wolken for ticket and incident

management

Performance and Optimization

• Conduct regular database performance tuning and optimization activities
• Monitor database health, identify bottlenecks, and implement corrective

measures

• Analyze query performance and recommend improvements for optimal database

efficiency

Compliance and Documentation

• Participate in quarterly and yearly auditing processes to ensure regulatory

compliance

• Create and maintain comprehensive system documentation, database runbooks,

and compliance audit materials aligned with industry best practices

• Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for new issues and their

resolutions

Customer Support and Issue Resolution

• Manage and resolve customer complaints related to database performance and

availability

• Research, identify, and resolve database-related issues
• Route calls and tickets to appropriate resources and domains for optimal support
• Identify and escalate critical issues to supervisors when necessary
• Provide technical support and guidance to end-users and development teams
