• Designing and fabricating molds:Mold makers use blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD/CAM software to design and create molds from various materials, often using precision tools and machinery.
• Repairing and maintaining molds:They perform regular maintenance and repairs on existing molds to ensure they function properly and extend their lifespan.
• Selecting appropriate materials:Mold makers choose the right materials for mold construction based on the specific application and desired product properties.
• Operating machinery:They operate various tools and machinery, including CNC machines, for cutting, shaping, and finishing molds.
• Inspecting and testing molds:Mold makers inspect and test molds to ensure they meet dimensional accuracy, surface finish, and other quality requirements.
• Troubleshooting:They diagnose and resolve issues with molds during production, working with engineers and production teams to optimize mold performance.
• Following safety procedures:Mold makers adhere to safety protocols in the workshop, including handling tools and materials, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
• Maintaining records:They keep accurate records of mold designs, modifications, and repairs.
• Training and mentoring:In some cases, mold makers may also train and mentor junior mold makers.
