Manager - Projects (Civil)

Role & responsibilities Job Title: Manager Projects (Civil) Department: Projects / Engineering Location: Daund Reporting To: Head – Engineering / Director – Operations Experience Required: 8–12 years in civil project management, preferably in industrial or chemical plant construction Job Purpose: To lead and manage all civil engineering projects including new plant construction, infrastructure development, and facility modifications while ensuring timely execution, cost control, and compliance with safety and quality standards. Key Responsibilities: Project Planning & Execution: Plan and execute civil projects including factory buildings, process structures, utility blocks, roads, drainage systems, and other infrastructure. Prepare detailed schedules, material estimates, and cost plans. Design & Drawing Review: Review and validate civil, structural, and architectural drawings. Coordinate with consultants and architects for structural and RCC design approvals. Site Supervision: Oversee daily site activities, including excavation, concreting, brickwork, steelwork, waterproofing, and finishing works. Ensure quality workmanship as per specifications and drawings. Vendor & Contractor Management: Finalize civil contractors, negotiate rates, and ensure work execution within agreed timelines. Monitor contractor performance, resolve disputes, and ensure safety compliance. Quality, Safety & Compliance: Ensure adherence to safety protocols, statutory requirements, and ISO/environmental norms. Conduct regular site audits and quality inspections. Coordination: Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation teams for multi-disciplinary project alignment. Act as the single point of contact for civil works during project execution. Documentation & Reporting: Maintain project reports, budgets, progress updates, inspection records, and final handover documentation. Provide regular updates to senior management and stakeholders. Key Requirements: Education: B.E. / B.Tech in Civil Engineering Experience: 8–12 years in industrial civil projects (preferably in chemical or process plants) Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Project/Primavera, and quantity estimation tools Knowledge of civil codes, RCC design, soil mechanics, and construction methods Excellent leadership, vendor negotiation, and documentation skills Understanding of safety norms, factory construction standards, and EHS requirements Preferred Industry Background: Aroma chemicals, specialty chemicals, pharmaceuticals, FMCG, or infrastructure development for manufacturing plants
