Lead DevOps Engineer - Cloud Infrastructure

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role demands a strong background in Linux/Unix administration, experience with cloud environments (specifically Google Cloud Platform), and a solid grasp of automation, orchestration, and system hardening practices. The ideal candidate will have expertise in building and maintaining complex infrastructure setups and deploying applications in secure, scalable cloud environments. Key Responsibilities : - Linux/Unix Administration : Administer and manage Linux/Unix-based systems, ensuring high performance and reliability across environments. - Cloud Infrastructure Management : Architect, deploy, and maintain scalable infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), leveraging best practices for security, performance, and availability. - Automation & Orchestration : Utilize tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and Packer to automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and application deployment. - Containerization : Leverage Docker for containerization, ensuring consistency and efficiency across the development, testing, and production stages. - Scripting & Development : Develop scripts using languages like Python, Perl, Go, or Shell to streamline operational tasks, automate workflows, and improve system efficiency. - Database Management : Maintain and optimize both SQL and NoSQL database technologies and key-value stores, ensuring seamless integration within complex, distributed applications. - Application Monitoring & Content Delivery : Implement robust application monitoring tools to maintain high availability and performance across all environments, including content delivery systems. - Networking & Infrastructure : Apply basic networking principles and configure infrastructure setups that meet web hosting and content delivery requirements, ensuring seamless connectivity and data flow. - System Hardening & Security : Execute system hardening practices and stay abreast of the latest information security protocols to protect infrastructure against vulnerabilities and potential threats. - Environment Management : Design, implement, and maintain server environments across the development lifecycle, from development to production. - Application Deployment & Troubleshooting : Deploy and troubleshoot complex web applications or microservices, integrating with relational databases, caching layers, APIs, CDNs, and other critical infrastructure components. - Change & Version Management : Manage changes in infrastructure and applications with a strong understanding of version control and CI/CD processes to streamline deployments. - Ownership & Accountability : Take ownership of assigned projects, demonstrating accountability and driving them to successful completion. - Secure Cloud Practices : Adhere to industry best practices for secure cloud operations, implementing security controls that protect against unauthorized access and data breaches. - Web Operations : Oversee web operations from server provisioning automation to deployment, ensuring a streamlined, scalable, and robust cloud environment. - Project & Product Roadmap Management : Coordinate project timelines and prioritize product roadmap tasks, managing multiple objectives to align with business goals. Qualifications : - Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience). - 5+ years of experience in Linux/Unix administration and cloud infrastructure management, with a preference for experience on GCP. - Proficiency in Terraform, Ansible, Packer, and Docker. - Strong scripting skills in at least one language (Perl, Python, Go, or Shell). - Extensive experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, caching technologies, and key-value stores. - Proven ability to deploy and troubleshoot applications across complex infrastructures, including relational databases, external APIs, and CDN layers. - Deep understanding of application monitoring tools and content delivery systems. - Familiarity with networking and infrastructure configurations in a web hosting or content delivery setting. - Demonstrated knowledge of system hardening and information security practices. - Solid grasp of change and version control management. - Strong problem-solving skills, self-starter attitude, and accountability in all assigned projects.
