Functional Tester

Job Description

Job Summary: We are looking for a Functional Test Engineer who is detail-oriented and proactive, with hands-on experience in manual testing, API testing, and basic SQL. The ideal candidate should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and collaborating closely with developers, business analysts, and product owners. Exposure to automation tools, DevOps practices, and Agile methodologies will be considered a plus. Shift Timings: 2 PM - 11 PM Roles and Responsibilities Perform manual functional testing to verify application functionality against business requirements. Write and execute basic SQL queries to validate backend data and support testing activities. Conduct API testing using tools such as Postman or SoapUI . Collaborate with the automation team to run existing automated test scripts and log any identified defects. Use Azure DevOps for test planning, case execution, and tracking issues. Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives. Track user stories and defects using JIRA . Monitor logs and performance metrics using Azure Application Insights to support issue identification. Support the QA team in improving test processes, documentation, and overall quality practices. Required Skills and Qualifications Bachelors degree in Computer Science , Information Technology , or a related field. Experience in manual functional testing and test case execution. Ability to write and understand basic SQL joins for data validation. Practical experience with API testing tools such as Postman or SoapUI. Exposure to automation testing frameworks and the ability to execute existing scripts. Familiarity with Azure DevOps for managing and tracking test activities. Working knowledge of JIRA for issue tracking and project management. Understanding of Agile processes and the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Basic knowledge of Azure Application Insights for performance and diagnostic monitoring Preferred Qualifications ISTQB certification or equivalent QA certification. Experience with automation tools such as Selenium or TestNG . Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows.
