Job Description

The Electrical Commissioning Manager is responsible for the planning, execution, supervision, and documentation of all electrical commissioning activities on oil and gas facilities. This includes ensuring the safe energization and operational readiness of all electrical systems, in accordance with project specifications, industry standards, and client requirements. Key Responsibilities: Develop and execute electrical commissioning strategies, plans, and procedures in alignment with project timelines and objectives. Lead the commissioning team responsible for electrical systems including power generation, distribution (LV, MV, HV), switchgear, transformers, UPS, MCCs, and lighting systems. Ensure all electrical equipment is installed, tested, and commissioned per design specifications and safety standards (e.g., IEC, IEEE, NEC). Review and approve commissioning documentation such as inspection and test plans (ITPs), method statements, loop folders, and redline drawings. Conduct and supervise pre-commissioning activities like insulation resistance testing, continuity checks, loop checks, functional tests, and interlock verification. Manage energization plans and ensure all safety protocols and permits to work (PTW) are strictly followed. Interface with instrumentation, mechanical, and control systems teams for integrated commissioning. Coordinate with QA/QC, construction, vendors, and operations teams to facilitate smooth commissioning and handover. Troubleshoot issues and lead resolution efforts during testing and startup. Maintain up-to-date progress tracking and generate daily/weekly reports for project leadership. Support FATs (Factory Acceptance Tests) and SATs (Site Acceptance Tests) as required. Requirements: Qualifications: Bachelor s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field. Commissioning certifications or safety training (e.g., COMPEX, HV Switching Authorization, ATEX, or similar) is an advantage. Experience: 10+ years of experience in electrical commissioning, with at least 5 years in oil and gas projects. Hands-on knowledge of high and low voltage systems, hazardous area classification, and electrical safety standards. Familiarity with industry standards such as IEC, NEC, API, IEEE, and OSHA. Experience using commissioning software tools like ICAPS, WinPCS, or CMS systems is a plus. Skills: Excellent leadership and coordination skills Strong understanding of electrical systems and protective devices Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and single-line diagrams Effective communication and stakeholder management High focus on safety and quality assurance Additional Information: May involve rotation schedules and travel to remote sites (onshore/offshore). Must be able to work in challenging environments and meet tight deadlines. Required to participate in pre-startup reviews and client audits.
