Job Description

As a Database Specialist at Amdocs, you will have the ultimate responsibility for physical and applicative database administration activities supporting the end-to-end life cycle of the product from a database perspective. Your primary responsibilities will include: - Installing, configuring, and maintaining Oracle & Non-Oracle databases such as Couchbase, Cassandra, MongoDB, and Postgres to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and availability. - Monitoring and tuning database performance, troubleshooting issues, and implementing solutions to optimize database operations. - Developing and managing comprehensive backup and recovery strategies to protect against data loss and ensure quick recovery in case of failure. - Implementing and enforcing database security policies to safeguard data against unauthorized access and breaches. - Applying patches and upgrades to Oracle databases to maintain security and functionality. - Analyzing database usage trends, forecasting future growth, and planning for capacity and scaling needs. - Working closely with development teams to design and optimize database schemas and support application performance. - Creating and maintaining detailed documentation of database configurations, procedures, and operational guidelines. You will also be expected to have X years of experience as an Oracle DBA with hands-on experience in database administration, performance tuning, and backup/recovery. Additionally, you will provide supreme level problem-solving services to stakeholders, offer professional guidance and coaching to project management and development teams, and design, develop, configure, and administer large and critical database systems. Key Skills required for this role include proficiency with Oracle Database versions, strong command of SQL, PL/SQL, and Oracle database architecture, experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager or similar tools, knowledge of high-availability and disaster recovery solutions, and excellent problem-solving skills. To qualify for this role, you need to have a Bachelor's or B.Sc. in computer science or equivalent, 7-8 years of experience as a DBA in a software company, significant experience and solid knowledge of RDBMS, experience with UNIX or UNIX variants and scripting, relevant Database Certifications, and experience in operating within a complex, multi-interface environment.
