Role & Responsibilities

Lead and mentor a team of Data Engineers, ensuring performance and career development.

Architect scalable and reliable data infrastructure with high availability.

Define and implement data governance frameworks, compliance, and best practices.

Collaborate cross-functionally to execute the organization’s data roadmap.

Optimize data processing workflows for scalability and cost efficiency.

Ensure data quality, privacy, and security across platforms.

Drive innovation and technical excellence across the data engineering function.

Ideal Candidate Must-Haves

Experience:

10+ years in software/data engineering roles.

At least 2–3+ years in a leadership role managing teams of 5+ Data Engineers.

Proven hands-on experience setting up data engineering systems from scratch (0 → 1 stage) in high-growth B2B product companies.

Technical Expertise:

Strong in Java (preferred), or Python, Node.js, GoLang.

Expertise in big data tools: Apache Spark, Kafka, Hadoop, Hive, Airflow, Presto, HDFS.

Strong design experience in High-Level Design (HLD) and Low-Level Design (LLD).

Backend frameworks like Spring Boot, Google Guice.

Cloud data platforms: AWS, GCP, Azure.

Familiarity with data warehousing: Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery.

Databases: Redis, Cassandra, MongoDB, TiDB.

DevOps tools: Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, Ansible, Chef, Grafana, ELK.

Other Skills:

Strong understanding of data governance, security, and compliance (GDPR, SOC2, etc.).

Proven strategic thinking with ability to align technical architecture to business objectives.

Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management.

Preferred Qualifications

Exposure to Machine Learning infrastructure / MLOps.

Experience with real-time data analytics.

Strong foundation in algorithms, data structures, and scalable systems.

Previous work in SaaS or high-growth startups.
