Job overview

DSB is looking for a new teacher of Computer Science to nurture our newly established Computer Science Programme: our first IGCSE students sit the exam this year and our first IBDP students in 2026.
This late recruitment is because unfortunately the successful candidate has had to withdraw. Whilst we would like to employ someone from 1st August 2025 realistically we know that it is much more likely that it will be from January 2026. We will even consider someone with no prior teaching experience if they have the right qualifications and attitude. The successful candidate must be committed to developing professionally. Our teaching and learning is strongly focused on students’ future readiness. We are looking for teachers who are excited by AI and how it can help take learning forward; who would like to become involved in research informed practice and who want to develop this subject as an authentic subject for future readiness. This is a perfect opportunity for personal growth and for your career to flourish in a friendly ‘can do’ learning environment in India’s most vibrant and multicultural city. We offer a competitive package, including health insurance. The salary is good in the local context enabling some opportunity to save and plenty of opportunity to travel in this amazing land. The successful candidate should, essentially have a strong background in the subject, either from education or other employment. Desirable attributes include some if not all of these:
  • experience of having taught IBDP or at least, A level/AP Computer Science
  • a recognised teaching qualification
  • experience teaching across the age and ability range in Secondary
  • experience of working with students for whom English is an additional language is desirable.

DSB International is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The post is subject to a background check/Police clearance and satisfactory references. We are an equal opportunities employer. The successful candidate will be expected to support the school’s DEIJ philosophy. Please include a covering letter addressing how you are developing your computer science practice to reflect the rapidly changing educational landscape, especially in light of AI, and how you plan to bring this subject alive for our learners.

DSB International School is located on 2 campuses in Mumbai, India. We are a co-educational, not for profit, independent school.

Background

DSB International School caters for 400+ students from 32 different countries. Students at the school range in age from 3-18 years.

The school opened in 1961 and is the oldest international school in Mumbai. For the first 40 years, it was a German school following the curriculum from Germany, taught in German. In 2001, a small international primary section was opened and this has since grown to include the secondary level, both of which run alongside the German section.

DSB International School is a small, friendly, vibrant, child-centred and family-oriented organisation, which offers a variety of extra-curricular activities. Parents are very supportive and many are very involved in school life.

The school is managed by a Committee of elected parents, and run by the School Principal and the Senior Management Team.

DSB International School Today

Students at the school come mainly from the consular and expatriate community in South Mumbai and consequently, student turnover is quite high, about 30% per year. About 40% of the students in the school are host nationals.

Classes are small, ranging from 5 to 16 students. This means that staff get to know the students very well. Consequently planning and teaching can be more manageably personalised and differentiated to meet the needs of individuals and small groups. Classes are mixed-ability and there is one class per year group.

The curriculum from 3-18 years, in the international section, is broadly based on the English National Curriculum, including IGCSEs accredited by Cambridge International Education Examination Board. The International Baccalaureate Diploma is offered from 16+ years. The German Section offers a German curriculum in close cooperation with the International Section. The teaching of the German language and German culture is an important feature of the school and is supported by the German Government. The international section now makes up over 95% of the school population.

In August 2014, the school introduced the IB Diploma Programme for the first time, for a small cohort of 5 students. Currently, we have IBDP cohorts of 10-15 students. The philosophy of the IBO fits very well with the aims, values and mission of the School Committee for the future of DSB International School.

In 2021, the school opened its new campus for 9-18 year-olds, with a state of the art Design & Technology room and 3D printing lab, a rooftop pool and sports area. In designing the new campus, we aimed to cater to a larger school population without losing the personal, individual touch that has been so successfully established over the last half century.
