Job Description

The Assistant Manager - Vendor Development (Sheet Metal) will be responsible for handling the commodity of Sheet Metal. You will collaborate with various teams to understand product requirements and parts specifications. Identifying potential suppliers and sending RFQs to them based on part design and bill of materials received from the current engineering team will be a key aspect of your role. Regular liaison with vendors/suppliers for sourcing components and parts, as well as conducting design for manufacturing (DFM) discussions to gauge supplier capability, will be part of your routine. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify necessary modifications and reduce rejection rates of incoming parts. Monitoring order status to ensure adherence to Direct on line targets and business plan targets/vehicle will also be a crucial responsibility. Calculating target costing for components in collaboration with the Cost Management team, evaluating supplier performance, and proposing suppliers based on suitable evaluation with the Quality Assurance team are essential tasks. Providing mechanical and engineering feedback to shortlisted suppliers to enhance component reliability, supply chain efficiency, and overall cost reduction will also be within your purview. Supervising supplier quality engineers responsible for component release, conducting component inspection audits, resolving quality issues, and monitoring corrective procedures as per quality assurance guidelines are key responsibilities. Ensuring completion of the Product Part Approval process in collaboration with the Current Engineering and Quality Assurance team and facilitating a smooth handover to the procurement team for sourcing material for the start of production runs will be part of your duties. The ideal candidate should have 6 to 10 years of experience in the vendor development function within the automobile industry (OEMs, ancillaries) along with a B.E./B. Tech degree in Mechanical/Automobile Engineering. Knowledge of PPAP, APQP, DFM, and RFQ will be beneficial for this role.
