Software Development Engineer - Frontend (Mid-Level)

Job Description

Position Overview The qualified candidate will work under the supervision of senior management to directly contribute to TVIs proprietary cloud software platform. This is an outstanding opportunity for someone with experience in front-end software development with a focus on improving User experience and keen eye for design, looking to make a meaningful contribution to the life sciences domain and help researchers address some of the pressing questions involved in drug discovery. The ideal candidate will have experience in developing and supporting end-to-end software and following best practices while developing and deploying software on a large scale. The software will provide researchers with an easy-to-use platform to understand multi-dimensional and multiomic data and enable collaborations across laboratories to answer foundational biological questions. This position would fit a person with a strong technical background who is now looking to apply these skill sets to the growing field of biomedical image analysis and digital pathology. Responsibilities: Frontend Development: Design, develop, maintain, and engineer complex features and applications with a focus on frontend development using React, Node.js, and Angular. UI/UX Design: Work closely with senior management and on-site teams to understand requirements and design application UI with a focus on improving the user experience. Translate design prototypes into functional frontend applications. Integration: Ensure seamless integration of the frontend with backend APIs and cloud platforms. Application Management: Manage and own end-to-end application services while adhering to industry best practices. Design Reviews: Participate in regular design reviews and collaborate with other team members for feedback and improvements on UI/UX. Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams such as the Image Analysis Team and the Microscopy Hardware Team to ensure seamless integration with our hardware platform. Agile Methodologies: Perform application development based on Agile methodologies and participate in requirements/user story analysis, design, and execution. Testing and Support: Conduct appropriate unit and services testing. Detect, investigate, and fix defects in the application (production support). Documentation: Create and maintain software and design documentation. Skills Required: High proficiency in Python/C++/JavaScript/NodeJS and its related tools. 3+ years of experience in React, Vuejs, Next.js and Redux. In-depth knowledge of JavaScript, CSS, HTML, and Bootstrap. Experience in integrating REST/JSON APIs. Experience using POSTMAN or other similar libraries Strong grasp of Javascript and/or Typescript - both functional as well as object-oriented. Experience building React applications implementing good state management and dealing with some level of data complexity in the front end. Excellent understanding of CSS, have experience with CSS frameworks, and have worked with CSS-in-JS libraries. Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with at least 3-5 years of experience in frontend development, or a Master’s degree in the same fields with at least 2-3 years of equivalent practical experience. Proven experience in frontend development using React, Node.js, and Angular. Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate across organizational barriers and provide regular updates.
