Senior Warehouse Manager & Logistics

Job Role:

To lead, strategize, and manage end-to-end warehouse and logistics operations including inventory control, warehousing, inbound/outbound logistics, dispatch planning, transportation, and 3PL/vendor coordination, customers coordination ensuring cost-effectiveness, Inventory accuracy, and efficiency in supply chain operations with compliant storage, handling, and distribution of goods, while maintaining high standards of safety, accuracy, and service.

1. Warehouse Management:

• Plan, organize, and control entire warehousing operations and logistics across all locations.
• Focus and work towards continual improvements across the SCM, warehouse and team development
• Develop and implement SOPs for material receipt, storage, picking, packing and dispatch.
• Implement best practices for space utilization, safety, FIFO/FEFO/LIFO, and lean inventory management.
• Oversee and optimize warehouse layout, equipment utilization, and material handling systems.

2. Inventory Control:

• Ensure accurate inventory tracking and reconciliation.
• Conduct periodic physical stock counts and audits.
• Minimize inventory holding costs and avoid stock-outs or overstocking.
• Implement ERP/WMS systems for real-time inventory visibility.

3. Logistics Operations:

• Oversee inbound and outbound logistics for raw materials and finished goods.
• Negotiate and manage contracts with transporters and 3PL partners in collaboration with procurement head.
• Optimize freight costs, delivery timelines, and vehicle utilization.
• Ensure on-time dispatches and delivery to customers, suppliers and partners

4. Team Leadership & Development:

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of warehouse supervisors, logistics executives, and support staff.
• Define KPIs and performance targets for warehouse and logistics teams.
• Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and safety.

5. Compliance & Safety:

• Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and EHS requirements in warehousing and logistics.
• Implement safety protocols, fire prevention, and emergency response procedures.
• Maintain documentation for audits and AEO certification.

6. Continuous Improvement & Cost Optimization:

• Analyze data to identify bottlenecks, improve workflows, and reduce costs.
• Drive automation and digital transformation in warehousing and logistics.
• Implement Kaizen, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.

7. Cross-functional Coordination:

• Collaborate with Procurement, Production, Sales, and Customer Service to align supply chain plans.
• Ensure effective communication regarding order status, delays, and transportation issues.

Key Skills & Competencies:

• Strong knowledge of warehousing principles, inventory systems, and logistics planning.
• Proficient in ERP/WMS systems (SAP, Oracle, MS Dynamics etc.).
• Leadership, strategic thinking, and team management skills.
• Analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Supplier management and negotiation skills.
• Understanding of statutory norms (GST, E-way bill, Customs, etc.).

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelors degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related field.
• MBA in Supply Chain / Operations (preferred).
• 10+ years of experience in warehousing & logistics, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role.
• Experience in manufacturing/FMCG/automotive/e-commerce sectors is preferred.
