About this Opportunity

Ericsson Research is the central research organization within Ericsson. Our mission is to provide Ericsson with system concepts, technology and methodology and to secure long-term competitive product positioning.

The position is for a Senior AI Researcher/Researcher in AI Research lab located at Chennai, India. We are an international research team doing research on a range of disciplines, spanning Radio communications, Network architectures, AI, Cloud, Devices and Security.

Working with AI research at Ericsson you will have opportunities to explore and pioneer in state-of-art AI methodologies and define the future of AI-Native Networks. Influencing research projects from conceptualization to implementation and delivery, youre always encouraged to propose and develop innovative, transformative ideas and methods that push the boundaries of AI-driven technologies. What you will do

Responsibilities:

Advance AI research by exploring emerging techniques in Agentic AI and Reinforcement Learning, and extending the state-of-the-art to solve real-world problems in mobile communication systems.
Invent and adapt AI techniques to contribute towards AI driven networks
Define and develop research concepts and demonstrate the viability for adoption in products
Contribute to research projects in teams with diverse talents
Collaborate and coordinate with global research teams across varied competence and own responsibility for timely delivery of research modules
Contribute to scientific publications and patents to enhance Ericsson’s intellectual property portfolio and reinforce its reputation as leader in AI for mobile networks.

You will bring

PhD degree
from a top institute in India or abroad in Computer Science or related areas
Experience in hands-on AI research with first author publications in leading venues.
Extensive experience with state-of-the-art methods in agentic AI and large language models, particularly in optimizing planning, tool use, memory, and reflection capabilities. Familiarity with multi-agent system design is also valued.
Solid understanding of Reinforcement Learning and multi-agent concepts
Understanding of Radio fundamentals including L1,L2 and L3 layers and functions would be a significant positive.
Demonstrated ability to work with globally distributed research teams
Good communication skills and open to work in adjacent research areas
Excellent coding skills
Ability and willingness to learn domain specific things
